Well folks, I said I was going back to an XJ so that's what I did. Just a recap on my previous Jeeps...

My first XJ the day I sold it. 95' Sport 5 speed...

My second.... 87' Waggy XJ w/ factory 44 and HP non disco 30. Wish I kept this one...

And of course, my TJ I just recently sold....

Well after my TJ, I started looking for my next XJ. I knew I wanted a 97'+, so that's what I went after. While searching craigslist, I came across a 99' with 130k miles. Girl that owned it said it needed a radiator. All it really needed was a cap. Talked her down to $1600 and brought it home. Had some awesome seat covers and looked and smelled like an ash tray inside...

I like that steering a lot. How beefy are the heims?
Thanks DOODS. The heims are stout. Best thing about them they are easy and cheap to replace!

Next thing that needs to happen is to get my JCR fuel tank skid on and get some 2x6 to weld in for my rockers. I need to get a pic of my rockers in the current state they are in. When we were at Crozet last time, I found myself pivoting around rocks with what was left of my sheet metal rockers. I want to fix that before they cave anymore into my doors.

Lastly, I think I am ditching the tire carrier. Just not really liking it anymore....:dunno:

Nice build so far, bought my xj lifted on 35's with plenty of goodies to boot, for grand total OF $200 and traded a 79' chevy, but honestly not sure what lift it currently has other than a mentioned/claimed 5.5" lift, thought about dropping it down an inch or so with new coils and leafs and keep everything else.. And i see 3" lift and 35's works as well as 3" and 33's which was on my first xj haha

Those rockers are looking real proper like...they should function well!

Just curious, have you put enough miles on the new steering to provide a full review? How is it on the road?
Thanks dawg, welding to shyt metal is a beeetch.

I like the steering, might have 150-200 miles on it. Feels tight, I like it
