I need help finding a roof mounted bike rack for my 2004 WJ. I bought a 2013 Trek Marlin with 29 inch wheels and a 23 inch frame. I want a bike rack that allows me to leave my front tire on the bike. Thanks in advance.

Does it have to be roof mounted? I have a Thule T2 hitch bicycle rack and it's hands down the best I've ever used.

I run a long bike lock from the holes in the hitch through the bike frames. I've carried $8,000 worth of bicycle and nobody has taken one yet.

Here is the Thule model that functions in the same way as the other one shown, but mounts on the roof.

And another good option, same style but from Swagman instead of Thule.

Personally, I'd go with a swing-down hitch mounted model. That way you don't have to hoist your ride up on top of the Jeep, but still have access to the hatch. Plus, its better for fuel economy and bike wear on long trips.

Something like this....

I have a Yakima Bighorn hitch bike rack and I'm very happy with it. I've had it for years, used on several cars, carried many different types of bikes, is lockable and I routinely see used ones on craigslist for under $100. They come in either 2-bike or 4-bike carrier styles
