I figured since the other thread started out as talking about making a club, and what clubs are available, we should have a thread that's just dedicated to setting up trail runs.
The title says it all, and it'll be less cluttered.
So, the 9/18/10 Run to Potato Ridge was a success!
Next item on the schedule is Logandale on 10/23/10 according to McRoberts. Seems like we have a few interested parties! Who all is planning to attend?
If there is anything in the meantime, or someone local wants another rig to ride with them, just post up and see if anyone is available!
I know they have their limitations and I don't care what anyone says, I'd rock that with the windows down and proud. It's the ultimate zombie carnage wagon! Just look at that brush guard!!! I can just see the zombies flying off of it, or pesky pedestrians or bicyclists at redrock that insist on riding three and four wide!
I think it uses Android or IPhones. Here's how it works:
After you sign up, you assign people into various contact groups.
You can then create up to 14 different messages. I have messages like:
"About to enter a mine at this location."
"All clear. Heading home."
"Jeep disabled. Need help at this location."
Using my Android, I use the app to decide who gets whatever message. I don't need a cell signal. It uses satellites.
I can send any of the 14 custom messages any amount of times. Additionally, I paid an extra $29 for 100 custom messages from location to give detailed info. A follow up to one of the 14 canned messages. Something like:
"Bring parts and tools to repair snapped driveshaft."
It can't receive messages. This is strictly outgoing. DeLorme has a 2way device, but the service is $30-50 a month, I think. A bit too pricy for me.
For what it is, it seems great so far. Bass Pro carries them in stock. $150 for the Spot Connect. $100 for the annual service. Go get one!
Cool thanks, I looked over the website and the Spot GPS Messenger looks like a better deal for me since I don't have a smartphone. It can still send OK messeges, and track on google maps, and has the help/sos stuff too.
Love the HMMWV. The original military version. Not the little bytch boy models. I can't remember if it was Georgia or SC that held the military training for the HMMWV.
There were men from all the services there for the training. Of course, with all the testosterone, it was competitive. People were bragging about their offroad skills and how each of them would get the best course time.
We all got stuck. Turns out that was the purpose of the course. To teach us how to unfeck ourselves.
Also, I'm skipping the CA trip today. New meds are making me a little head foggy. Still going out. Just to Goodsprings. Better to be somewhere familiar.

We're still not on our way yet. Good thing we aren't going to CA today. It would probably be noon before we arrived on site.
Polka, tell your wife we said thanks for the tax software tip. We finally got around to doing the taxes last night. We're getting a huge $520 back! That was sarcasm. I'm cool with that. I like to have my refund as low as possible without having to pay. That way, we keep as much as we can from each check throughout the year.

It's definitely open I've had a few friends go. I've heard it isn't as cheap as it used to be. Some things are cheaper then bass pro some are the same. I may check it out Saturday.
