****2003 TJ has been Sold****

When I bought her in 2005, she had 24K miles, soft top, 2" Rubicon Express Budget Boost Lift with shocks, 1" M.O.R.E. Body Lift, KC Day Lighters on windshield, Hella 500 driving lights, tow hooks, Auto Meter Air/Fuel gauge, and 31" tires. I have since been building her over the past years, buying and adding parts as soon as I bought her. I want to learn and have been doing as much of the work as I can myself and with the help of friends and my Dad.
I wanted to build an off road capable Jeep with the reliability of a daily driver, using not the most expensive parts, but good parts that are affordable for someone on a tight budget.

Haha, I just put my soft top back on. I've been running with a bikini top & doorless since November...but I'm in FL & put my top back on in hopes of getting my ac fixed for summer.

Nice build btw :)

Edit: really doorless mostly for the past 2 years considering I usually have a garage to park in

Okay. I'm going to have to replace mine this spring and I'd been considering the (gasp) Smitty one. Apparently they actually can be pretty damn good but it can kind of be a hit or miss on that. I tore my rear passenger window last fall because it was too cold to zip it back up.

For $250... i don't know if it's even a bad idea haha.

For a whole top, thats a steal. I got my rear window re-stiched last year. Maybe about 2 inches, and that cost me $100.

Weather was nice so I gave her a bath. Also, had a leak from the front diff cover plug. I put some plumbers tape around the plug, hope that will stop the leak. Also, since switching to the new oil, I checked the RMS leak today and it was dry, and really hope it stays like that. I was very happy to see that.

My front diff cover has been leaking for some time now from the fill plug. I went out and got pipe joint compound. But first I went heavy on the plug with plumbers tape to try and stop the oil from leaking out. I used the tape before but not as heavy as today. So far today no leak.

Plasti-Dip my front grill and half of the front fenders with a flat black. I also hit the head light rings and guard. I used one can and probably went with 7 coats maybe a few more about 10 minutes apart. It was hot out today, 80 degrees, so it dried very fast and even. I cleaned the paint very good with Rustoleum's Wax and Tar remover. Started with some light coats then went to medium. The tip started to spit a little, shook it good, sprayed another top coast and it all dried evenly. The hardest part was getting into the slots of the grill with the winch and KC's. One tip is to pull the painters tape off after the last coat. The paint will stick to it pulling it apart a bit. After I realized this, I ran a small blade across the edge of the tape to separate it leaving a clean line. I am so pleased with the results.

Plasti Dip'd the Trail Rated Badges. The rear emblem was still wet when I took the picture. The side badge was dry and looks great.

I also had to order a replacement set of my ORO LED Lite DOTS. Today, the right side light was completely out. I called and they told me because I had an old style set that it would be $90 + shipping for a replacement set because they have a "new" style of Lite DOTs out. I told them that this was going to be my third replacement set of lights. They didn't seem to care. So needless to say I placed the order, but was not very happy about i, because it was only $60 to replace them before. They re-assured me that they fixed the problem this time. They also told me that on the last two replacement sets I got.

The reception is great, no difference. I thought about the clear lenses, but I like the amber look much better. The antenna was only $20 from QTEC with free shipping.

I also just got a quote for a set of four Bilstein 5100 shocks from a vendor on here, $289 shipped. I am debating right now to order or not. That price is a steal.
