I figured since the other thread started out as talking about making a club, and what clubs are available, we should have a thread that's just dedicated to setting up trail runs.

The title says it all, and it'll be less cluttered.

So, the 9/18/10 Run to Potato Ridge was a success!

Next item on the schedule is Logandale on 10/23/10 according to McRoberts. Seems like we have a few interested parties! Who all is planning to attend?

If there is anything in the meantime, or someone local wants another rig to ride with them, just post up and see if anyone is available!

I'm not sure how relative this is, but I have been told by more than a couple builders to NOT buy or build a house in North Vegas due to soil conditions (I forgot what they called it). Evidently lots of issues with settling and foundation/structural cracks?

I have been looking for a place on at least 1/2 acre and there a several I would have love to have pursued, but every time I get interested there is an offer by an investor or some kind of baggage with the bank! I've been looking over in the south in between I15 all the way to Durango, kind of near Warm Springs. I also like it out south of Blue Diamond, but no luck.
Lots of places for sale near me - zoning requires 1/2 acre min lot size in this area- Durango between lone mtn & Ann rd and west

So I stop at burger king to grab some lunch. As I'm enjoying my meal these three guys are having a shouting match at their table. I go and sit in the opposite end so I don't have to hear it while I eat lunch. As I'm eating I over hear what they are yelling at each other about. It turns out they are arguing about the effect worm holes had on the star trek ship. I didn't know these people actually exist.
Damn my xhisband's back in town

For those of you looking for shocks. I have some new in the box Fox shocks for the rear. They are Savvy Offroad-spec valving. If you look on Savvy's website, they are the rear shocks for 4" of lift. I just bought them in November. Never mounted or anything, they are new. I was going to use them before I changed my mind and decided to outboard the rear shocks. Pm me if interested.

Just FYI.....Tenneco Automotive (Monroe) makes all those shocks for the brands I mentioned and several more. OME, Bilstein, Fox, King, SaW...and the other top brands are their own shock manufacturers.

I tried some ES3000's and could literally blow out a pair every wheeling trip. I went through 3 pair on the front...mainly because it was funny and I wanted cheap since I would soon be redoing the entire suspension.

I haven't mentioned much but from '01-'04 I was the designer for RCD Suspensions. In early '05 I relocated to Northern Az to do design work for OR Fab, Trailmaster Suspensions and Performance Accessories. They're all under the same parent company. That's why in '05 about 75% of trailmaster's existing product line went in the trash and from that point forward most of their kits started looking a lot like what RCD used to put out. LOL, imagine that right??? Anyways, point being... I've worked for those guys and I've got friends that have worked for rancho and fabtech. What garza said is correct... Most of the shocks out there for lift kits are made by either tenneco or gabrial. They're all virtually identical. I'm talking the twin tube shocks which are mostly the cheaper white body shocks out there for lifted vehicles/jeeps. Buy one and you've pretty much experienced them all for the most part.

Bilstein puts a lot of effort into their shock work. They're product is top notch! The valving though is not tunable so you get to deal with what they decide your jeep should ride like. They're sports car guys at heart so that's why they tend to be a little more firm of a ride. Great on the street, a little rough in the dirt. Yes they have a major offroad division but truth told, they're road guys do the ride handling for the jeep line. They look at street safety WAY before offroad performance for a jeep shock.

Old man emu... No first hand experience with them but I've heard they are excellent and I honestly can't really ever remember reading about complaints. You all know the internet... Nobody praises the companies when they're good but you damn well know they raise all hell when they suck. When's the last time you saw a OME sucks thread?

Eldelbrock shocks were awesome but I've heard rumors they're possibly not available anymore. I don't really keep up with the shock world as I'm not in that part of the industry anymore but a friend of mine just a few weeks back told me they weren't making them anymore for his chevy at least which is why he had a set sitting in his shop. I don't know if that was just for his application or if edelbrocks aren't around across the board. I have heard good though and considering this friend owns a company making very high end shocks here in vegas for a living I sort of trust a lot of his opinion. It's not everyone that has a shock dyno between their CNC mills spitting out shock parts! LOL And no this isn't FOA I'm talking about... HAHA

Anyways, in short, if you're not going rebuildable bilstein, OME and edelbrocks are good choices from what i understand. When my time comes for shocks on mine I'll be going with bilsteins most likely cause I don't need the high dollar take aparts unless I stumble on a deal I can't pass up.

Factory works too but the price of them might sway your opinion... Not sure...

And space, I actually got confirmation of my ecu shipping yesterday so hopefully I'll see it late this week or early next!!!

Thanks for the input on shocks guys, and yeah been reading through the reviews and on the techn forum, can't find anything bad about OME or Bilsteins. A Vendor here from AZ gave me a price for bilsteins for 289 for the set no shipping! Might go that way, OME I can find woud be about 400 with shipping. The factory ones I was looking at would be about 350. Hope I can get the back ones out without any problems with the bar pin like Bunny did. Looks like that's a pretty common problem. Thanks fellas! :2thumbsup:
