94 yj 6.0 v8, stretched and linked build "SPUD"

So im starting this thread a little late but i figure better late than never, i bought my 1994 wrangler last 2 years ago around new years and i knew nothing about jeeps, i got a 4 cyl, which to my disappointment didn't do very well on the highway. So after a few blown transmissions and an engine or two my dad and i decided to undertake a complete "do over" of the wrangler

Love your jeep looks and sounds great. I am just starting a jeep build and want it to be very similar to yours. It is in paint now and have the full metal cloak front to back armor just the flat style fenders on the front instead. I just finished a LS1 T56 swap in a rx7 earlier this year. That car is a blast to drive and gets better mileage then the old turbo rotary too. I plan to later put a 5.3 ls engine in my jeep down the road and your build gives me lots to go on thanks. Here is a pic of my rx7 swap.
That rx7 is sick, it looks like the ls1 barely fits. I can see that thing doin rolling burnouts at like 80 lol. Btw tbe cloaks are awesome, I couldn't be happier

Thanks, it will sound bettet soon, right now its just 2 flexible pipes into a super 44. I just wanted to get it on the road. My dads truck has the same engine and I always thought it was fast as hell. Now I get in it and it feels kinda doggish

well this sucks lol, everything was going almost too well, i even got my plexiglass back window finished... pulled it out of the garage and tried to put it in park and the shift lever moved but it didnt change gears. i got under it and the electronic control module thing for the trans is all stripped on the inside where it selects the gear, and the rod that goes through the trans just spins freely... so its back on the trailer and going to the place that rebuilt the trans. they warrantied the trans so hopefully it wont cost me anything.

fyi for anyone pulling onto a very steep trailer backwards, you gotta go like 20 unless you put it in 4wd. the surface of the trailer is very slick

thats my dad hooking up the straps

Is your jeep your daily driver? Why do you need to borrow the truck? I came across your build when you posted in another thread and I saw your avatar pic and new it was something special. Wish I found your build earlier

I see you used Novak for some parts. I resourced them for a hydraulic clutch linkage kit and ended up talking to the guy for an hour about his jk he's swapping in a ls7 motor and just loved their knowledge. I recommend them to everyone. My cj is not my DD but I used to drive it everyday as I used to work 6 miles from where I live. Now I drive 31 miles just to get to work and my mpg is about 8 unlike yours. I wish I had as much as yours does and the power you have. I love my setup but will switch to a 4 barrel or efi next summer. What mufflers are you running?

Novak has been fantastic for me as well, but not cheap. I'm thought about putting an lt1 in but I really liked the gen3 engines so we went with that. Currently I have a flowmaster super 44 with a 3inch inlet and 2 2.5s out. But I flipped it backwards to work so I have 2 flexible pipes going from the engine to the two outlets lol I just wanted to get it in the road. Once I get a front driveshaft ill get a real system made, but I think ill keep the super 44

I too have the super 44's and love them. When I bought it there were flex pipe and only cats and no mufflers on it. Sounded like a tractor and was way to loud. Novak is alittle high on price but it was worth it for me as their kit was a direct bolt in even with my swapped trans and I'll pay for quality. Im sure yours was expensive as I know how much it costs to swap a LS series motor and that is why I don't have one. You still have stock axles? If so I doubt they will last long. If you got a front bumper like a Hanson or warn that would complement those fenders a ton and just make it look even more sick than it is. Make one like those would be even better.

Yea I love the sound of the 44. I'm saving my money for warn winch bumper hopefully soon. Or ill make one. As for axles I'm runnin waggy 44s . I knew id shred the stock axles pretty quick.

not quite... the trans shop i took it to i guess ended cutting up my skid plate and my exhaust system:confused: sooo i gotta make a new transmission crossmember, went to farm and fleet and bought some metal tonight, then gotta re set up the exhaust...

Talked with the shop today, it was just a pin in the trans that had fallen out. He has also pointed out a few mistakes I made and has been working on it in his down time. Really a great group of guys. To anyone in the chicagoish area that needs trans work its multistate transmissions ask for al. Im really excited, should be picking it back up today or tomorrow
