I figured since the other thread started out as talking about making a club, and what clubs are available, we should have a thread that's just dedicated to setting up trail runs.

The title says it all, and it'll be less cluttered.

So, the 9/18/10 Run to Potato Ridge was a success!

Next item on the schedule is Logandale on 10/23/10 according to McRoberts. Seems like we have a few interested parties! Who all is planning to attend?

If there is anything in the meantime, or someone local wants another rig to ride with them, just post up and see if anyone is available!

I question if my old TJ on 33's would have made it, and that is only because of the open diffs... Heck I even wonder if I would get through now without a lift now that I added bumpers and armor

We really like the 4 door, it pretty much rocks. I used to leave the TJ home for the longer road trips due to space. Now our only consideration is 40+mpg in the tdi or 17ish in the Jeep.

Not to pimp my website too much, but check it out. For a list of trails I've done in Clark County, go here. Not comprehensive, and it's a work in progress, but here's a lot I've done.

I checked out your site. Many trails. Would u mind recommending a few that are close to Vegas? My girlfriend wants to go to Vegas, I wanna go 4-wheeling, so this is the middle ground. Haha. I'm just looking for moderately difficult trails for a day (or two) run in a JK Rubicon. Thanks!

A good days wheeling could be found by doing the Bitter Springs, Boathouse Cove and Anniversary Mine Roads. This will take you into the Lake Mead National Rec Area, but you get to avoid the toll booth going in this direction. Bitter Springs is easy, with a few obstacles, but takes you through some pretty scenic stuff with lots of places to get out and play. The Boathouse Cove Road is a bit more varied, you'll use your 4 wheel drive, and it take you down to the water. Anniversary Mine Road (particularly the western half) can be more difficult, plus you may need to stack some rocks to get past the midway point down in the wash. If you want to hike a couple of miles, head up to the narrows. They are worth the time and effort.

For stuff right around the dam, you could make a day of the following trails, which I would do in the following order:

First, the Old Ranger Station Road takes you down close to the Colorado River, and puts you into an interesting canyon. If you want, a short hike down a great canyon gets you to the water.

http://davidson-law.net/blogs/jeeplaw/2011/04/30/old-ranger-station-road/

The Kingman Wash Mine Road takes you along to top of some ridges and into some steeper grades to an old mine site. Lots of fun.

Then, back on the Nevada side, the Black Canyon Overlook Trail lands you into one of the most impressive views of the dam/bridge/canyon. Plus the road is a bit of fun.

To get to the overlook road, you need to go up Goldstrike Pass Road, the KML is on this page. If you still want to do some more wheeling, check out the other alternative routes to Boy Scout Canyon, but you want to make your way to the southern end of the Goldstrike Pass Powerline Road, which also has a KML file on the page below.

If you still have a bit of daylight, check out the Canyon Point Mesa Roads.

I would search the tech forum for WJ's and maybe drop this question over there. The tech forums can get snipey if you don't search first, but it's a great resource.

I've already told quite a few people about your site. I thought Dirtopia's list was fairly complete, but yours really is the most complete listing of local trails out there.

If I could make a request about your list, please. Alphabetical is fine, but could you also arrange the trails by direction? Like, west of town, south of town. It would make planning trips a little easier. Maybe a plotted map might make it easier.

I just have plenty of time to read these days. I focus on one thing and read everything I can about it. The result is a head full of useless info.

Anytime you want to go again, just let me know. There is still plenty out there we haven't seen.

Here is where we began our trail:
35°47'50.71"N 115°32'39.15"W
Follow that and every trail ends at a mine. Some are small, prospect mines that only go back a few feet. Others, like that one below went back several hundred yards.

Coordinates to the mine are here:
35°45'9.80"N 115°30'0.60"W

Here is the view from the top of the tailing pile and in front of the mine entrance. The wood structure you see there is part of the air tramway that carried ore up and over the mountain.

Here is one of the more interesting areas inside that mine. It didn't appear to be sturdy, so we stopped there. Just below that bridge was a drop of only a few feet, but just off from that was another drop that seemed to keep going.

There was also an area near there that seemed to only be covered by wood. That wood was covered by dirt and barely noticable.

I am playing around with a couple of options on this front ... Not sure what I think works best yet.
