Just starting up a single thread where we can see all the different kinds of Jeep trailers, offroad trailers, military trailers, and any other kind of trailer we pull with our Jeeps.

Here's mine: Made from a TJ Tub with Warrior Products corners, Bushwacker flares, and a steel box on the front. New wheels and tires coming soon! Tire Wheel Plant Vehicle Motor vehicle

I posted before with a trailer I was building and have since changed the design. it started as a flimsy 4x6 flat-bed with no lights and a busted axle. I installed a new axle, reinforced the bottom, and added sides and lights. since then I have shortened the length by a foot making it 4x5, and repositioned the lights and added a bottle opener as well. Ignore all the bungee cords, I still need to add tie down points throughout the trailer...

Figured I'd add a few pics of the removable table I built for my trailer. it attatches via two 1/2" hitch pins. It allows me to cook etc. on the trailer rather than cluttering up camp. with this setup I can leave everything on the trailer except for tents and chairs.

Here's my Datsun half-back dive gear/sand&gravel/trash/camping gear/kayak/lumber hauler. I've had the thing since 1986, got it free as a truck from a friend who rolled it. Cut the frame long enough to add the toolbox, painted it blue and tan to match my '85 Bronco. Couldn't tow the trailer across a beach (factory tires just sank into the sand), so I swapped some junkyard chevy wheels, added an old pair of tires off the Bronco when I could, then cut out the fenders and added the flairs. It evolved into the 33x12.50x15" rubber and shackle lift you see here. It tracks great, and fits within the width of the jeep. The small padlocks held the latches for a folding plywood topper I made to keep cargo secure. No extra charge for the "patina".

The dang thing has hauled up to 2900 lbs of rock without breaking. Datsun made 'em tuff back then....

That old coke opener is from the fifties. Somehow, it fits.

Here's some photos of my trailer to haul all the camping gear. It has a 12 volt battery system with a solar battery charger and 10 gallons of water storage. It is rolling on a set of 34x9.5R16.5 TSL Super Swampers.

The passenger side has the cooking equipment and 1 of the 2 5 gallon water jugs.

There is a 12 volt system to run the interior lights for at night and the stereo.

Drivers side is storage for lawn chairs, camp games, and the other 5 gallon water storage.

The rear accesses the bottom storage for longer items like the cooking tri-pod and the tents.

If the trail gets really tough you can engage the extra drive. :D

Ok not really. I used a set of hubs and spindles from a Dana 44 to build my axle.

Had a buddy in my Jeep club make this for me. Just picked it up yesterday.

Mainly got it for hauling camping stuff when I've got kids in the back seat. Built to survive mild to moderate trails.

Follows the Jeep perfectly. Tows great on the interstate. One of the toughest trailers I've ever backed-up though... and I've backed-up a lot of jet-ski trailers!

Specs:

4'x5' Box
31x10.50 AT tires
2,000lb. axle
2" Ball (4" drop hitch)
5x4.5" Bolt Pattern
Bedlined inside & out

Future plans:

Tail lights (blocks the Jeep's)
Hi-Lift jack mount
Bottle opener ( ;) )
Shovel mount
Giant cooler in front of box

Here is my "project" so far...

After looking for one for months, I finally found one in Vancouver BC. Actually, it found me! I posted an add on CL in Van, and a guy who was "thinking" about selling his sent me an e-mail and said I could have it if I was interested? Wow, after a year of looking for the right one...I was stoked.

WAY more to come!

I wish I had the skills to do my own trailer, you guys Rock:2thumbsup:. I ended buying a AT Chaser to pull behind my 06 LJ basically everything that was inside my rig is now in the trailer. I also have an ARB fridge and a group 31 AGM in the nose box, so far I can go 4 days w/out a charge before I hook it up to my LJ and slooowly charge it up.

Can you post a few of those pic's up here? I deleted my FB account and am unable to see your trailer.

first big welding project last summer. Challenge was to build a offroad trailer for as cheap as i could (still in college so i cant afford much). Total invested so far just over $500 for the whole thing. Scrounged the metal from local farm junk yard with permision (minus the front basket). Got the pine side tongue and groove and the iron wood deck from a family friend and my uncle. Got the wheels for my birthday. The rest of it was a whole lot of sweat, blood and tears. Not quite done but will have to wait for next summer.

here is my concept design that I produced in sketchup. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...2477429124.2061668.72303178&type=3&permPage=1 and http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...2477429124.2061668.72303178&type=3&permPage=1 I want to build something that is able to hold a motorcycle or 2 depending on the size of the bikes. I built the rack on top that will be used for kayaks, canoes, bikes or even a roof top tent. there is a lockable storage box on the front. for the suspension I was thinking of using a straight axle with leaf springs but I am now leaning toward a trailing arm suspension with an air bag system so that when I am using the roof top tent I can level the trailer from side to side and there will be a front swivel jack to level the trailer from front to back. I am also looking to include a hand brake like I have seen on some military trailers.

Wow, how did I miss this thread?

These three are what it looked like right before it came home.

The big drum in the back was full of a nasty mixture of Diesel, oil and water. Found a friend who wanted the tank for their trailer. I shrugged and took it over to him. We were both happy.

The next three are of the beginning of my cleanup. I took the lunette off because at the time my Willys had a ball on the back and the pintle hooks were prohibitively expensive. I was planning at this point in time having the trailer sandblasted and painted, which is why the fenders and light were removed. But I ran out of money.

So as such, I started putting it back together again. First off was the lights. Took them apart, changed out the bulbs for 12V (military lights are 24V), hit them with the wire wheel and a couple shots of gloss black.

The Harbor Freight ones on the back wall of the trailer have since been relegated to the spare parts bin. I picked up a tongue jack and ball hitch for the front.

Also got 3 wheels and tires for it.

That's where it basically sits right now. I've already used it to pay for itself. 3 runs of metal recycling later and I made my money back on it. We've also used it around the apartment complex I live/work at as a trash/tool hauler. It's nice to be able to use it like a 3 wheeled wheelbarrow too.

Andy, I already have several plans for it. I've got a spare battery, air compressor with tanks, my inverter and a couple other goodies for it. My ZJ has the power connections to do everything I want built in. So stand by for a few changes over the next couple months (if Mother Nature cooperates).
