I want to see what you have. Looking for ideas. My goal is to run 35s w/ 2" suspension and 1" body, tube fenders, limit the up travel, cut the rear a bit.
35s or larger on 3" or less. So that means if you have 2 1/2" springs and 1/2" lift shackles, or three inch leaf springs and stock shackles, or if you have 4" RC springs :rofl::rofl::rofl:
Hey guys, I’m a complete newb to all of this and basically ignorant when it comes to anything about cars/trucks, but I’m trying to learn. I have a 98 TJ that’s currently stock on 31’s. I want to go to 315/70/r17 tires (the largest Duratrac they make) and I’m looking at all lift options available. While I don’t know a ton about any of this, I’m trying to learn now before I spend my money on something I later regret. My Jeep will spend 95% of its time on road. When we do go off-road, it’ll mostly be sand trails and an occasional downed tree. I live in FL and there’s not much else. It’s mostly a DD and used for camping/fishing type trips. Anyways, my question is does going LCG help with a better on-road ride? I would assume yes, but wanted to ask. I know it’s not going to be a Cadillac, but trying to get the best on-road ride as possible bc I do drive it a lot.
I was thinking something like the 2.5” OME lift and then the AEV highline kit or flares. Would I need anything else to clear the 315/70/17’s? Remember, I won’t be doing any serious off-roading with it.
Thanks in advance for any replies, and sorry for the text in what’s supposed to be a pic thread, but I felt this was the best place to get some knowledgeable answers.

Those are basically 35" tires. Yes 2.5" of lift with highline fenders will fit 35s. The reason for the suggestion to research is that running 35s or larger brings in other issues. Tires will rub during full turn, more stress on axle shafts, unit bearings, ball joints, stock brakes not really up to the extra mass, etc.. There are many ways to address each of these issues. Thus build threads will give you an idea of what others have done and why.
No doubt. I've read several of those build threads and several threads that have been linked in this thread. I realize that I will have several other things to do than just slap on a lift and tires. I was just asking if the on-road ride on a LCG was better than a regular lift. I figure being 2-3 inches lower would give more stability and a better ride, but wanted to ask. I didn't see anything about on-road ride addressed in this thread or the others I have read. Everything was talking about off-road performance.
Depends on how and if the gemoetry changes caused by lift are addressed with either a big lift or a little lift. If all things are equal then the smaller lift will handle a bit better, however a bigger lift done correctly with quality parts will handle much better than a cheep 2.5" BB.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
