I got this jeep over the summer when my '94 4Runner decided to die on me. This is much better! I didn't document the build very well but plan on it with the rest of the project.
It started off like this:
And is currently like this:
Completed Modifications:
IRO 3" Lift
15x7 Cragar Soft 8s
31x10.5 GoodYear Wrangler Authority's
Painted cladding
Added Factory Tow Hitch and Front Tow Hooks
Thrush Welded Muffler
Mesh Grille
Solid Front Diff Cover
KOR 3/4" Spacers
Carolina Driveline Front Driveshaft
JCR Stage 3 Sliders
IRO Bar Pin Eliminators
IRO A-arm spacer
K&N Intake tube with Amsoil Dry Dilter
ZJ washer bottle
Transmission Cooler
Cut Fenders
Things Still Left To Do
Tank Tuck
mtnmarc's axles
Stereo/speakers replacement
4.5" Coils
Long arms
35s
Today I took apart my rear shocks/sway links and put in the proper bushing sleeves and bolts. No more squeaking! I also disconnected my front sway bar to see how it handles and I installed my Rancho steering stabilizer, no more shaking when I brake!
ill let you know when it comes a little closer to the swap time. its in good condition. wheel bearings good. you might want to swap in your upper bj at the a arm. idk how good mine is.
its got an awesome green diff cover too
and the shaking from braking is probably from warped rotors. happens all the time on wjs. you could probably resurface them if the runout is still within spec.
Planning/Starting PART 2/3! This will take a while as I'm leaving for college in August, but it will indeed happen
Part 2
- Fix Transmission
- Trim Fenders
- Install JCR Stage 3 rock sliders
- Front and rear axles out of a V8 WJ
- 4.10 Gears
- 33s
Part 3
- Clayton 6" (maybe with my .75 spacers?)
- Kevin's Belly Skid for Clayton kits
- 35s
- ECGS Front and Rear D60
- 4.56 Gears
- Some sort of locker either in the front, rear, or both
- Make bumpers
I know 60s might be "too much" for 35s but the ECGS comes ready to bolt in. I have no fabrication skills, or a welder, so it might be cheaper for me just to buy the pre made axle then to buy a used axle and have someone fab up mounts for me. But thanks for the info, I have a ton of more time before I do the swap, so I'll do my research.
My sliders are my favorite mod. They have saved me multiple times.
