I guess the original owner of the Trails Rd thread got sick of people posting BS that had nothing to do with access to Trails Rd, the use of it, how to work to keep it open for use. :nono:
Since Trails Rd. is still going to get used regardless of whether or not the thread is here, let's start it back up again and keep it rolling. Think the thread was a good place for people to meet up and talk about the conditions on Trails, post what they tackled on Trails Rd, what it took to run it, and definitely etiquette to the landowners around trails (important!), etc.
So we know it can be run by a STOCK Jeep/rig and it's challenging enough for even a modified one to make things interesting.
i want to go toomoro morning, is there a place where i can leave a truck and trailer while we go whelin my jeep isnt tagged rite now, i gotta trailer it. or at least cosed to the place.
WTF man you all moved TRAILS RD and did not tell me i see how it is.
Any way i was talking to a dude that stopped me while i was driving the new and improved ZJ and he mentioned the Clay pits in NEW OXFORD off of 700rd anyone bin??
I'm new to the Harrisburg area orig from Florida just got out of the military now living here with the fam. If anyone ever needs someone to go le me know, I've been pretty bored since I've been here.
this ^ Its not an offroad park that sees bunches of vehicles every weekend....its a road that people live off of. If you keep going every weekend your gonna piss them off. Save it for a Rausch Creek trip..well worth it for the day...yes it costs money and driving there can be long but suck it up.
at the very least, go in small groups of 3 or 4. when the locals see 15 jeeps driving past their house im sure they don't feel all warm and fuzzy inside. one of these days they're gonna call the cops. yeah i know some of the locals are fine with us wheeling there, but i also know some of them don't like it one bit. don't forget about that lady who puts 2x4's with nails in the mud pits on the trail...
Guess I need to come up with another plan for the stepndaughter and her German friend and offroading. I certainly don't want to be a part of the downfall of the use of the trail.

I agree, 15 jeeps would be no good, but you got 2 guys looking to go here. Maybe a couple more will tag along. It's good advice to keep the locals happy, so thanks.
Trails Road isn't just used by Jeeps. Google it, it is all over the web. If people are going to use it, they need to respect the local landowners and the people that go there need to know that. I think in part, that's what this thread is here for.
I'm pretty sure I would take the same response to a person putting a 2x4 with nails in a mud puddle at Trail Rd. as I would to a local teenager putting the same in a mud puddle outside my home: Take 2x4 and beat them over the head with it... :club:
Ok I TOTALLY understand the "go in small groups" thing. I agree either way. But I'm still confused; is it public road or private road? There were TONS of Jeeps down there the day I went down. However, amidst all of us, I don't recall anyone "disturbing the peace"... Do the locals own the road or were they just unfortunate enough to live by a public dirt road that Jeeps favor? :fight:
OK, note to self. When I install my winch, add a grappling hook. That way I can heave it across a mudpit and then winch it back to drag for nail laden 2X4s.
I agree with Angel. We were there the same day and there was no rowdiness going on or anything. Heck, there wasn't even any drinking going on. The locals don't seem to have to much of a problem with Jeepers other than the nutsack at the beginning of the trail. Who knows though, maybe one of her kids almost got run over by a careless driver once. Anyway, if there is going to be a large group, it shouldn't be a problem with breaking up into smaller groups of 2-3 and going in with a few minutes of spacing, and please don't go whipping onto the Trails Rd from the main road. That lady may be a nutsack, but she did have kids out playing in the yard the 1st time I went to Trails Rd.
thread caught my eye...i live in north central pa nearly 5hrs from your trail. however, i have a friend from my military days that lives less than an hour from this trail. i visit him at least 3-4 times a year and this trail looks like a great ride. my jeep is currently under the knife at Jeff Daniels Jeeps getting a wiring harness for the 5.2 swap i did, but after would love to see this trail first hand. are there organized rides or a local club to contact that rides here?
well still since there seems to be alot of people that are passionate about it remaining a public area then it still seems worth the trip. besides my buddy is a rice head, would do him good to get a little muddy.
YOOOUUU CAN DO IT! I ran blue trails up at RC and Paragon in a stock Xterra (well, had 32's on it at the time) with no armor....no damage except for the POS brush guard that was on it at the time.
That's because she is a nutsack. I wouldn't even run outside and confront a pack of Jeepers. Well not without a weapon. hehehe
She comes charging out on me and I'm taking coping the same plea as my avatar.
It's Cool, I'm just a Panda. hehehe
