I have a 2008 Jeep liberty aport and currently that is using an aftermarket stereo system.
I am looking to do a 2nd radio upgrade and watned to add an XM radio to it. Is there anyway to get a Jeep antenna that will fit in the existing radio antenna location or will I need to run a seperate antenna unit out the back (as I've done with previous setup).
If this is possible what is the part number? Will I need to run additional cables to it? How much of a headache is it to do this? (My husband will probably do the install but I dont' want to make too much of a challenge for him).
One other question -- my jeep didn't come with the trip computer (that tells MTE, ECO and other stuff) Is it possible to add this on now?
First, this is the mopar satellite antenna for the liberty, made for the Mygig unit. The connector may not fit your aftermarket stereo. A bit pricey.
I got a mygig unit and I bought a radio shack sirius ant. The sirius antenna is standard and universal and should fit any aftermarket Sirius satellite stereo ...$20
i have an aftermarket sirius one... it's dead center over my windshield and i ran the wires through the the car so there are no wires showing...i can post pics if you want.
ill post it on monday... im away from my Jeep for the weekend and there is no problem what so ever with it staying on. i thought it was gonna get ripped off, but the guy assured me it wouldn't. so far so good.
i have aftermarket antenna on the roof of my civic, i run the wire to the trunk and the around the rear window, secured with black silicone. its been there for last 6 years and seems to be holding on just fine. the only thing i do is i put duct tape over it when i take it the power wash
yeah if you are nervous some duct tape will re-inforce it. its a magnet, but for the first 5 inches or so of the wire, there is a sticky strip which helps too.
Its very easy to wire those XM antennas. On my VW I put double sided tape on it and put it in the corner of the dash by the windshield and it worked great. I didnt even have to run it outside.
I have a factory radio with satellite in a 2008 jeep liberty . Is the satellite reciever a seperate piece or is it part of th radio
My satellite part quit working but the radio is fine. If it's part of the radio I will have to buy a new radio. If its not can i purchase jusr the reciever, and if its seperate where is it located. Need some help in Indiana.
Newer Chrysler radios now have the satellite integrated.
