If so did you run into problems with using the stock intake. I set mine up but am running onto problems with it.

I have my 4.0L head set up with my weber and stock 4.2 intake and it runs pretty good. But it was PITA to line up and I am worried over time it will move.

If so what was the fix.

I ask in this forum because to be totally honest you CJ boys know your 258 mods. The YJ guys tend to knock them.

I am using the 258 intake with a 4.0 head for over a 3000 miles and I haven't notice any movement so far. it was a bit difficult to line it up and than the steering pump bracket mod but nothing more.
I mast add, this is the best mod I ever did to my Jeep.

Oh yeah, it seems to run falt out awsome now but it was a pain to line up. I hade to cut the heck out of the PS bracket as well.

All in all I like the mod. Just wanted to know if there were any tricks. One thing I did was to go buy two intake manifold gaskets and I permatex'd them to the manifold before I put it on. seems to work well.

You're probably looking for cheap and dirty fixes. Sorry, don't have one. I bought a 4.0 manifold made for carbs from Clifford. Wasn't real cheap, but it fits good and haven't had any leaks or other problems. Since I got a deal on the head, I figured I could spend a bit on the intake.

Cool. Could you show which intake you picked up. I was thinking about going to a 390 4bbl soon anyway.

I finnly did get the engine set up and runnign well last night. Intake seems to bi lined up OK. I tell you what this head swap was the best thing I have done. The jeep has so much more power.

Right on. I just talked to the guys at clifford and they urged me to go with the 390 holly instead of my little 300 cfm weber with this swap. Where did you pick your holly up and was it had to set up on the jeep?

Thanks for the help I am stoked now.

Allstate Carburetor

It was a rebuilt unit but looked like brand new. Very good quality, around $220 from what I remember (found them through eBay). Ran pretty good out of the box, just some minor idle jet adjustments. They don't show it on the web site, but give them a call. You might find one local also. There is a place over near Kirkland called Carburetor Connection that I've heard good things about and there is probably something in the Seattle area as well. It's a pretty common carb, most anyone should have one. The guys at Clifford were trying to talk me into a 500CFM 2 barrel which I thought was a bit much for what I wanted.

BTW, you will need a throttle bracket, but any carb shop should have one for about $8. No more of the funky Weber linkage.
