I have a 2000 Xj 2 door with the gauge cluster that consists of the Gas tank and Mph and have the idiot lights for everything else, you know what i'm talkin about? I want to put blue led's in so it matches my stereo but i was wondering if the gauges themselves are just colored plastic with a regular bulb backlight its kinda what it looks like since the mph and kmh numbers are so close yet mph is green and kmh is orange. If anyone with this plain dash set up has done the leds before how did it go? i dont want to pull it all apart to find out i cant do it. Also how can a jeep come without Rpm's lol i wish i knew what rpm's i was at when rippin thru mudholes. :2thumbsup:

it wouldn't hurt to try the swap, one odd thing about swapping clusters is that it swaps the mileage with it, so you'll need to know the exact mileage on the new and old cluster when they are swapped, record this somewhere, you'll need both readings and a bit of math if you ever sell the vehicle or transfer the title.

The only point was to save money. Some people don't need full gauges and could use that to save a couple bucks. And the model doesn't matter much in terms of what you get. You could go in and get whatever you wanted at the dealership depending on what you wanted to pay. My 96 Classic came with idiot lights but my buddies came with full gauges.

ok i for one have the SE gauge cluster in my XJ but it came with a full gauge cluster(changed them out because my full gauge cluster was broken and got the SE for free), i swapped the bulbs for white LED's and it just came out blue, i like the SE cluster hahahah
