So, if I go with the Stock rims that come on a 2005 WK Laredo, and get 255/75/17 BFG KM1s, with an OME Lift kit, will I need spacers to clear the tires? Or will I be fine?
You could also go with 245/75 tires. I think some people are running them on here with out any problems with the bolt or the pinch weld. I can't remember who. Search the threads.
I am running 245/75/17 on my 06 with the RC lift. I can almost get my pinky finger between the bolt and the tire with no spacer. With a 255 I am positive you would have to get spacers. Mine do rub on the sway bar and the frame at full lock. Doesn't touch the pinch weld though. There are some pictures on this thread http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f67/pictures-rc-lift-245-75-17-a-981615/
Right now I have 255/75R17 on mine stock, and with 1.5" spacers I don't rub at all until I hit a hard bump then you hear it. Without the spacers it would rub really badly. Good thing I finally got my lift kit in
So, I am going with the 245/75/17 Wrangler Authority. Do you think it is worth messing with spacers, etc to fix the rubbing? Does the rubbing make the tire wear excessively on that area? Think I would have much rubbing off road? Can you just hammer out that area that it does rum, only at full lock right?
I would like to get spacers mainly for the looks haha, but to be honest I think it would actually push the tires into the pinch weld when you turn but I have not tried yet so who knows. Maybe after like 10-15 thousand miles it might cause more wear, the reason I say that is you would have to be doing alot of donuts to make it rub long enough to cause more wear. Rubbing off road I dont have any other then the rubbing I already mentioned. Where mine rubs like I said the swaybar and the frame, I personally would not hammer them, and yes it only rubs at full lock.
I have 255/70/R18 tires on mine and it rubs at little less then full lock and thats about it off road it does great haven't had much rubbing that i know of. i am saving up for spidertrax 1.25 inch spacers so i can pull into the tight parking spaces without tearing the tread off my tires. Your tire is 31.5 inches and mine is 32.1 so mine is a bit bigger so i am guessing rubbing shouldn't be to bad. But check out these things i found online for off roading watch the video. http://www.offroaders.com/directory/products/pillowtrack.htm
no major rub spots of a matter of fact the tires them self I cant see where they rub, and they just rub on the sway bar and frame those you can see but I wouldnt say its terrible. Like I said I have not used spacers yet but a .25" spacer might help.
Question about the "Chrome" wheels on limited, has anyboody removed the plastic cover part? what is the wheel like? I want to remove mine if possible an paint them black.
