If youre like me, you can never seem to find a tire pressure gauge when you need it. So while I was at AutoZone, I noticed they had some little 1.5" tire guages with a magnet attached to it. The cost was $2.50+tax. I went out the jeep and stuck it on the drivers side of the windshield frame.
how did you mount those toggle switches to disable the door lights? got any pics? cause i was planning on making my own version of the quadratec one the wires inbto your fuse pannel can you let me know?
I took some skateboard tape (2 sheets @ $6 each) and cut out pieces to fit on the top of the fender flares. It conceals some 'to the metal' scratches I have, as well as protect from new dings and problems. Plus, it gives me somewhere to put tools and drinks while working under the hood.
With the leftover I had, I made some door sill protectors as well. I'll post links to the pics I take of them tomorrow.
I thought this was "Cheap Mods". Those carabiners are like $15 each, unless you pick them up as wall booty. Why use a locking Omega Jake when there are other, cheaper, non-locking keychain 'biners out there?
While what you say is completely flawed at first, Cherokees have square headlights, whats more Jeep than a Cherokee .. OK A CJ. But your completely right, and especially about the CJ-8.
I think a better alternative to putting a small carabiner on the seat pull tabs is to go to a hardware store and get little screw pin D-rings. They usually have some that are the size of a keyring or a little bigger. Seems more Jeepish to me.

I got another TJ 3 switch bezel on ebay(cheap). I cut out my ash tray portion of my dash bezel and installed the 3 switch bezel next to my other 3 switch bezel(with a few mods) now its a 6 switch bezel. Pictures soon.
Painting the fender flares has made a huge difference on my Jeep, looks several years younger now. Also, the headlight bezels got painted while I was at it. I've taken out the rear seat and carpeting and use it to haul stuff here on the ranch. Makes the Jeep look more rugged. Also I took off the endcaps on both front and rear bumpers as well as the roll bar surrounds on the back half. It's all about personal preference in looks.
i did this with my jeep because i live in a big city and leave the doors and top off a lot. buy a properly rated switch (i used a toggle switch capable of handling up 20A) - cost ~ $5 CANADIAN... all you do is this:
- splice the cable from your battery's +ve terminal and run it through the firewall and to somewhere discreet and easy for you to toggle - james bond style!
- clamp and solder the switch in, and you're DONE!
total time: 30 minutes TOPS
as long as you don't care about your clock being off, it's great!
You do know that your battery is rated for hundreds of cranking amps, right? Switching your main battery positive cable through a cheap toggle switch is just asking for a fire one of these times you go to start your jeep. There's a reason they make battery disconnect switches just for the purpose.
The unlimited rides much better with the wheelbase being just a little longer. It also comes with all the stuff most people end up doing to a jeep already done. I work for a jeep dealership in parts and have to admit that at first I thought they looked kinda funny. After riding to lunch a few times in one, I have to say it definately grows on you. IMO they ride more like a XJ than a traditional wrangler. My 2cents
My TJ has 4" lift and after installing a B&M shifter I found it uncomfortable at times to reach the shift knob. I solved this by purchasing a "coupling nut" at the local hardware store and installing between the rod and knob. The extra length really helps shifting when being tossed around on rough trails.
I like that idea because when I have my hardtop on the wiper on the back window catches on the third light (haven't figured out how to fix it yet...anyone else have that problem?), but my husband's in the military and I don't think I'd remember to check local laws every time we moved.
