If you don't have the technical info on your profile it would be cool to go ahead and add the info. to your posts. I still want to see all of recons tech. Info. BTW If you've never had a hardtop Jeep your really missing out. :2thumbsup:
i bought it from a dealer with all the stuff in the picture included. i added rugged ridge rocker guards but those aren't in the picture. not sure of the guys name but something tells me it may have been gary.
Im thinking we should all meet up. Your up in NY, im on the border of NY, PA, and NJ, and your in NJ. I ran across a thread a while back with members from this area posting up in it. Maybe its time for a revival? I dont know any close Jeepers, all my buddies live in SE PA
What are some of the pros and cons of a hardtop on a LJ? Does it have a better ride? The only down side I can see with a hardtop is it's a pain to remove and put on with out the right set up.
Hardtops have their up's and down's like soft tops.
HARDTOPS: quieter, heavier (may make your rear sag), able to just lift the rear window to gain access - but make sure you don't have anything to impede the opening (i.e. Hi-lift, spare tire...), nicer in the winter, you can put a sun roof, cargo rack or light bar on it. Great with full steel doors. Gotta find somewhere to keep it. If you already have the rear wiring/windshield washer fluid line you're golden!
SOFT TOPS: Sunny out? Put it down or open sunrider, noisier, more chances for leaks, windows scratch easily, only need one person to take off, take out windows to make a "safari top", great with half doors. No need to run wires or liquid lines.
They each have pro's and con's. Just gotta decide.
i really like the lift. the ride is bumpy but thats mainly due to a 4 inch lift and stock short arms. Hopefully after this summer i will do some longarms which will give me a much better ride. I had procomp shocks and i switched to the skyjacker hydros and it definitely helped the ride quality.
A hard-top is obviously more secure too. If I had to pick just one, it would be a HT. I hate the sound the soft tops make on a long road trip when you notice it the most, it will drown out any music you're trying to listen to.
33x12.5r15 Cooper stt with 15x8 American racing chamber teflons with no lift. I'll get better pics (with a real camera) this weekend after it's lifted.
Nice... more info on the doors please? Ive never seen that style, very cool. You paint your flares? I had to learn Spanish just so I could tell the guys at the car wash "no Armor All" It never entered my mind to paint them - how does that work out, special paint? I always wondered what the proper cleaning procedure is for that type of plastic.
Justin, you have a rig to be proud of and with Blaine setting up that Currie suspension for you, well, you know it's done properly. No second guessing there. Did you go with a new driveshaft?
My offer still stands to trade you my blue half doors (that will match your jeep) for you're black ones. Might save you the cost of a re-paint?? They're not perfect but they're not that bad either. No rush....they're not going anywhere.
Marco, maybe sometime this summer we should meet up (trail run?) and I can check out the doors. The ones I have are in great shape and the black doesn't bother me TOO much, but I would love color matched. Hmm..
And no driveshaft/SYE. No bad vibes (none worse than stock) up through 80 mph.
