Does anyone have a fix for a 4.7 that will start at 2000 rpm then settle down and idle fine? I cleaned all the sensors (they are only 8 months old). I'm wondering if one went out again or maybe a o2 sensor, fuel reg/filter
My 5.9 ZJ starts at about 1500 RPMs then comes down & all the mechanics I talk to tell me that it is normal. It has been checked for sensors IAC cleaned etc. I don't know about the 4.7.
My 4.0 had an issue where occaisonally it started at 2000 rpms, but not all the time. When it did this the check engine light came on sometimes. It turned out to be the throttle position sensor.
I have an 01 WJ with the 4.7 and it does the same. I posted on here but never got answers, so it's fairly normal. I notice mine does it after three conditions:
1) It's cold out
2) The key was put into the "on" position a few times without starting (i.e. getting codes, etc.)
3) After short trips (less than 7 miles)
Looks like we all have a problem, I hate to say something is normal just because some people have the problem, I replaced both sensors on the TB when it started idling high at start up and the problem went away. That was only about 7 months ago so why did it come back? bad sensors again?
Any way thanks for the input guys,
