After a google search it appears there is some misunderstandings. Check out ebay and it gives you one that is for the 3.8 jeep but it doesn't seem very clear, then Jegs says no on all of them. I like the looks of it. I usually get oil everywhere when I change mine out.
It's the best thing when you have a Skid Row Engine Skid (any engine skid for that matter). Or, you'll have oil splash all over the skid and your garage floor.
Once you install this, to drain the oil, unscrew cap. Then you screw in the drain cap with a tube. As you screw this tubed cap in, the drain safety disengages allowing oil to flow down the tube (slowly) into your empty Mobile-1 gallon jug. No splash with the ultra thin 5W-20 weight oil. It makes your oil change at home chore a very simple one.
You should remove the plug completely every 3-4 oil change just to see if there's metal shavings to be drained out (I had none with my TJ with 76,000 miles).
I've mentioned it before - a manual oil pump does an excellent job for oil changes. No crawling under the car, no mess, and it allows you to first remove the old oil, then add the new oil and then pour the old oil into the empty oil container. Been using one for years on boat and other cars and it works great. Just insert tube into dipstick hole, pump 3 or 4 times and walk away. The suction empties your oil pan. You can also use it to change fluids in your diffs.
aeroquip now makes a quick drain plug for oil pans. It is like a air chuck fitting, very quick to attach. You can see them on summitracing.com. just type in oil drain plug and select aeroquip. i'm not sure if the 3.8 is a 12-20 thread or a M14-1.5, but ill find out next weekend when i change the oil. I had purchased both sizes.
