WK2 Lift Options

Hi,

Other than the RRO lift option for the WK2, is there another company out there? Ideally, I am looking for springs rather than the blocks option.

Thanks!

Actually thier is an option for springs. Dobinson springs sells a 40 mm lift ~1.5 inches. The problems is the price. They quoted me $1500 , mainly because of the shipping cost from Australia to the US. Here is the link if the price doesn't scare you off.

Thanks, I got a quote there as well (sorry for not mentioning it). Yes, I meant for something that is cost effective. I don't want it free, but I also can't justify paying $1,500 for four springs and the other two little things that come with the kit.

Are these suspension lifts or body lifts? i.e., do they actually enhance ground clearance?
Cannot do body lift on a unibody vehicle. Our frame is part of the body.

Still on the hunt.

Hey fellas not sure if this the right place to post this but I have been in the market for a larger suspension lift kit. ( RRO 2.5" Spacer kit already installed). I have been scouring the forums and haven't turned up much but a teaser photo from AEV sporting a 4" lift with 35"s, turns out there JK market is producing so well they will not follow through. So I contacted RRO for some answers, the conversation is as follows..

Michael:
I have installed your 2.5" lift for my 2012 Grand Cherokee as well as 1.5" spacers and am very satisfied with the results. However I am still experiencing some tire rub. My question is, is there any foreseeable suspension kits that will be available for extra clearance in the future?
Charlie:
We have looked into it some , but it would be a expensive kit to go any higher. It is some thing the owner is looking into.I would keep a eye on our facebook page , as he updates new items or things that are in the works there before putting them on our web site
Michael:
Thanks Charlie, will do. The only other Suspension lift is offered by a company named Dobinson which offers a 40mm lift. I would like to stick with your company but was curious as to whether there kit would be compatible with your 2.5" spacer lift, maybe the forums will turn something up.
Charlie:
It will not be, Our operations manager spoke with Dobinson at sema last month, If you combine the two the CV would be bound up and the steering also.
Charlie:
That is our concern going any higher. But again we have not ruled it out.I would just watch our web and face book pages for anything new.

Alas the waiting continues..

There's another company that's making coils for the front and rear for wk2 and it's slightly cheaper at 1100 for a 2.5- 2-75" lift. The kit also comes with front and rear strut top plates to prevent. I can't speak on the quality of them though. I just recently found them about a week ago but I already purchased the RRO lift with UCA so to late for that.

I thing to note on their product is it states "no bar/no winch". Dobinson offers a setup for the extra weight up front, if you have a bar and/or winch.

I have the RRO spacer, combo bar and winch, and I wonder how much lift I lost with that extra weight up front. Also wonder what my actual ride height would be replacing the RRO spacer for the Dobinson Coils and shocks. Also wondering what the ride difference would be. $1500+ is an expensive test. I cannot afford to lose any lift.:nono:

If you decide to go the dobinson route let me know how it goes. I have the bumper combo and winch ordered for mine. I asked several members and they've stated no noticeable loss from the extra weight but we'll see. The fiancée is picking up my jeep tomorrow so I'll have her take measurements for me from before lift, after, and post bumper and winch.

I'd do it all but still stuck on deployment. I knew there was a reason why they gave us pizza

Hey guys just wanted to point out that i personally got the RRO lift kit for 2.5" and am completely satisfied with the product. Of course id like to be able to go up one more inch but for that i suppose we all have to wait. Also have a friend who went with the dobinson suspension but the 1.5" inch lift is simply not enough and way to costly. check out the pics for my WK2 with the RRO kit and other mods.

Looks real good man, like the black paint with the gray rims, curious though, what trim is your Jeep, the grill, red tow hooks and wheels are throwin' me off?.. :) Are those blinker in your mirrors? Was that an option from Jeep?

WK2 is still new to the market, its goona take some time for the aftermarket world to open up. I am sure with in the next few years, we will see all sorts of options, better springs, etc..IRS/IFS is becoming more and more, so its just a matter of time. Doesn't matter for me, though, not like I can lift mine...1500 is steep for sure!

The WK2 has been been out like four years. There was an custom outfit a couple years ago using a test mule in an attempt to develop lifts and other suspension goodies, but found that the chassis limitations are just too expensive to overcome. The 2.5 RRO is about it unless you also rework the half shafts. I suppose with enough $$$ you could put a WK2 body on a Wrangler chassis :)...

I spoke to an off road company a few months back that said they could drop Rubicon axles in. $12k they estimated. A little too pricey for me.

I agree... yet cheaper than buying a new Rubicon!!!

Almost bought a 14 X the other week. Wife talked me out of it. Very pricey for something I'll only trail ride with.

Ive talked to a few folks out there that have been mentioning lifting the WK2 throws the drive shafts out of natural alignment causing possible damage to the differentials, cv's, and transfercase after awhile. I was told this is a lot more extreme with the RR2.5 spacer lift(not sure if that's real). Does make sense to me even knowing that the quadra lift will raise the jeep 3" but that being said, odds are if you have a quadra lift you aren't driving it continuously for hours on end at 70+ miles an hour. I can see how this could damage components. Just tryin to find out how many miles some of you folks have on your lifts as well as what or some of the problems you might have encountered with them installed as well as some problems that might have occurred during the installation process itself. I do want to lift this dog gone grocery getter :)
Also, does anyone out there know if the Murchinson lift will work for a US WK2 5.7 2011 Limited with tow package. This lift to me seems to be the real deal but I haven't seen to much of it posted on these boards. Maybe cuz its not compatible with the US vehicles, not sure. I still believe either way the drive shaft problem would still arise but im hoping the above questions I asked might help me in the right direction. Thanx :D

The computer only lets QL run at the highest level up to about 25mph, the second level up to about 45mph. Above those levels it sets at the normal level regardless (which is easiest on the axle joints). When you run a lift the sharpness of the axle shaft (half shaft) joint angles cause more wear and tear and heat build up, also takes away from power delivery. Doesn't seem to be a problem up to about 2.5 inch lift, however. But it will be interesting to note if these start getting high mileage axle failures. It will be worth it for some regardless.

Competent outfits don't seem to offer more than 2.5 inch lifts unless they also sell axles that can handle the angles... especially for a WK2 with a V8 or diesel. One of the best shops in Pa started a massive WK2 lift project a couple years ago that many here were excited about. It fizzled out probably because of technical difficulties as well as cost/practicality/liability. If you like massive lift, the WK2 is not the right vehicle unless you want to rip it apart and make a monster truck out of it. :)
