Introducing MONSTALINER™ UV Permanent DIY Roll On Bed Liner

Hi All,

We are a new advertiser on jeepforum.com and I just want to introduce myself, our company and a very interesting new product.

My name is Eric and I have 25+ years experience in coatings manufacturing.
Our company Magnet Paints, is focused on industrial maintenance and commercial fleet refinish coatings,
epoxy and urethane concrete floor coatings and automotive restoration paints.

We are also the manufacturers of Chassis Saver™ Rust Preventive Truck & Auto Underbody Coating.
Chassis Saver is a high performance alternate to POR-15 at 45% lower cost.

For the past 5 years, our lab has been developing and fine tuning a roll on bed liner product.
The product has evolved through 3 generations of testing, development and field trials and has just been
commercialized and is available for sale.

I have personally been involved with installations on more than 20 vehicles in the last 4 years in which
my feedback and experience alone was the determining factor that the product was complete and ready for release.

Monstaliner started as a pet project. One of our employees had used a widely popular DIY bed liner on his
personal truck and was not so pleased with the outcome. He came into work one day with a mission and
for almost a year, he kept badgering the chemists in our lab to develop a better product.

One day after getting tired of listening to this guy rant, we sat down and mapped out what a
new generation do-it-yourself bed liner would have to offer to be successful. A first, we just toyed with the
project but we knew that a much better product was possible compared to those already on the market.

So here we are, very proud to present:

MONSTALINER™ High Performance DIY Roll On Bed Liner

I don't want to write a book here so I will post the web site link for all who are curious to check this out on their own time.

As an introduction special and for the rest of this month at least,
we are offering free shipping on anything sold on the web site.

Just use Promo Code "FSBL-1" when ordering either online or by phone.

Everyone, anyone... please feel free to ask any questions. I am always available to help.

Best Regards
magnetman

work with you to make something happen.

It is quiet in here!

I've got a quick question that I know has been asked before; what prep needs to be done to current ML if I want to add a touch up coat? ....well more to pretty it up & get it a little thicker in a few spots...its still holding up very well

Sent by a messenger bird
Wash/degrease and just light scuff to dull the surface. Scotch brite pad or the brown pad like comes with the kit. Don't need hard scuffing just enough to dull surface and generate a little dust then solv wipe. Mek acetone

Ok... I would like to request some assistance for a genuine cause.

Tyler (ratmonkey) Hodson past away on Memorial Day and his presence on JeepForum will be sorely missed.

Tyler was a great forum mod, an awesome jeeper, a walking encyclopedia of jeep know how, but most important... Tyler was
the best friend since kindergarten of Mike (mike_breaker_5) Dixon who was the first jeeper on earth to ever have a complete
exterior Monstaliner job.

We are asking for small donations.. $2, $5, $10, $20 which will go directly to Tylers mom to help settle his estate.

Please help if you can!
R.I.P. Tyler Hodson

Very sorry to hear of the loss.

I have a somewhat boring question regarding Monstaliner as an exterior paint product. What is the best way to wash it? Just a power washer and hand soaping or are automatic car washes fine as well? Also, is there any product recommended to be used on top such as wax or anything?

I realize these are probably covered elsewhere but a search proved fruitless and I'm genuinely interested in doing my entire XJ soon. Thanks in advance.

I went this route.

Should I MEK in between the CS and the ML?
Magnetman is the best person to answer this, but I'll go out on a limb and say that you should ML over the CS within a certain window of time (read the CS directions about the re-coat window). MEK is used for removing dirt and oil/grease from the surface, and obviously there shouldn't be any of that stuff on a fresh coat of CS.

That looks so good! Amazing how much it covers! Most of those dimples don't even show up. Can't wait to get time to do mine! Any week now. Still have not opened the can from the factory.

So, how long did it take yours to tack? You doing a second coat? How long did you wait? How long for the second coat to tack?

Thanks. I'm very happy with the way it came out. Love the product, love the color.

That picture is after the second coat. I waited about 90 minutes after the first coat then I started going over the small stuff again. It was probably 2 1/2 hours before I used the roller for the second coat.

I'm in Phoenix though and it was 108 today. Definitely helped speed the drying process along. I left the house for a few hours after the second coat so I'm not exactly sure drying time on that. It feels completely dry now, about 4 hours after the second coat.

The only real issue I had was getting in all the nooks and crannies around where the front seat belts attach to the roll bar. That's a pain in the ***. When I realized I couldn't reach everywhere in there I tried to remove the belts, but my ratchet/torx bit was too big to reach the bolt. So I had to just jam the brush in there a hundred times while trying my best to avoid the belt. I definitely didn't get everywhere that I wanted to.

Magnetman - the addition of the little foam square is great, that wasn't in there the last time I ordered the kit. My only complaint is that I could not for the life of me figure out how to remove the small roller from the little metal handle. I pulled on it as hard as I could, pried at it with a screwdriver, bashed it with a hammer. All that I ended up doing was stripping off the foam from the cardboard. So on my second coat I was limited to the large roller and the foam block. I was in a hot garage huffing fumes all day so maybe I was just doing it wrong...

Hey Eric, I sent a PM a while back but it may have been during your account issues

I am getting ready to line my YJ with Read My Lips (hoping it is a good match to my original color: Radiant Fire Red.)

I have some 'new' bare metal from patches I had to weld in, and some small rusted spots.

I cleaned with TSP, and used the pads in the kit to scuff the original paint.

My question is can I use the Jet Black chassis saver from the order as a spot primer, even on bare metal, or can I use some Home Depot spray primer? The home depot primer is their professional line; I believe it is enamel.

I have done so many searches and I see many opinions, so I want to go to the source.

Also, I am hoping to due the transmission cover in Black Monstaliner. Is it possible to get a size smaller than a quart? The cover is not very large; I just like the black/red contrast and hope to keep it.

Thanks in advance; looking forward to the end result.

Here is what he told me about that:

At this point you have two choices

Coarse scuff the bare metal with 50 grit and put CS as primer or get a regular metal primer to put on smooth surface
CS will not stick to smooth steel and ML can not go on bare steel

Follow what BEETROOT posted for CS

The black repair kit we sell covers 3.5 sq ft and is probably enough to cover the trans cover (repair kit is 25% of a quart)

I recently posted a pic of Radiant Red on PPG chart with "Lady in Red" next to it as the best match
Thanks to you both; I appreciate the input.

Doh! I was on the fence between the two and picked read my lips. Is it possible to order just the color can of lady in red?

I sprayed mine also but you still need a brush to get in the hard to reach places.
