Hey guys,

I wanted to make a thread about installing bigger tires on a Liberty without doing any lifts. This question comes up a lot, so I figured I'd make a thread about it, with lots of pictures.

Since installing these tires I have driven almost 10,000Km. There has been no rubbing anywhere. I did not have to pound the pinch weld. Any size larger than 245/75r/16 will require a lift.

Also posted the same thing on Lost forums

Feel free to ask any questions.

I used a gps to determine the speedo difference. My speedo was bang on with my gps on stock tires. Both showed me traveling @ 100km/h.

But with these tires Jeep speedo is off by 4-5%.

I was traveling 100km/h according to Jeep's speedo, but gps was showing 104-105km/h.

I called dealership and they can fix this by changing the tire revolutions in the ecm, they charge half hour labor. They can only do this if the tire difference isn't very big, if the tires are even bigger then the reprogramming wont work.

I didn't bother with it, 4-5% isn't much.

And no affect on esc.

Trust me, lift is needed if nothing else a better ride and handling and also to have some flex room. Silly to have tires that have so little room if a rock gets in the tread it rubs.
