Hey guys I guess it's time I start my build thread and get some input on my build so far. I'm going to post what I've done and get everyone caught up to where the build is now. I've always been a zj guy but I bought my first xj last September and I can't go back to a grand now. Anyway, here are some specs on the xj.
1999 Cherokee sport
4.0
Aw4
Np242
Dana 30 and Dana 35
I picked her up with 159k on the clock and in need of some tires and a windshield for 2k.
That's not a bad idea! How much do the kits usually run? My entire system needs help... If its way pricy to go that route, I was considering doing a header or new manifold and the iron rock cat back kit. It's around $200 so it's reasonable.
I think I have a 40 series laying around somewhere so if I do a turn down after the muffler would that be something that would pass inspection? I don't have inspection now but I'm moving this year. Each state is probably different.
If you have cut off right after the cat then a turn down or side exhaust is a must. that thing vibrated the **** out of my Jeep when I had no tail pipe.
Yeh I bet! Right now my exhaust hanger right after the muffler is ghetto fabbed and my tail pipe hits the floor board. It's soooo annoying... I think I'm set on doing a turn down after my flow-master. I've never been partial to an out the side exhaust set up. Seems like a rock grabber. At least it would be for me.
I LOVE side exhaust. but on a jeep it would be a definite no unless you could do it in a way that didn't hang down like through the body on a 2 door...
Got a little bit of shop time after work tonight and did my oil change. Tomorrow hopefully ill have more shop time and I can throw my coils, control arms, and shackle brackets on. After that's done I probably won't do much to the jeep other than maybe a track bar. I need to save for my move to Ohio this summer and once I'm there I'm starting a hot rod project so I'm not sure where ill go with this project.
It's a 1930-31 ford model a. Either a pick up or a 5 window coupe. I started a 29 model a sedan in college in my fabrication classes but I got home and had to sell it so I've been itching to start another one ever since. I've got a 283 and a 3 speed out of a 1958 Chevy pickup for a power train and I'm going to try to pick up a body and frame once I move.
Sounds bad ***. I can't decide what my next project is gonna be but I really want to build a late 40s early 50s sedan hot rod. I want it to be a sleeper though nothing fancy.
I think I'm leaning more towards a pick up at this point. That'll be cool though! My grandpa has a 47 ford sedan on his farm and it's just been chilling there since he parked it in the 80s. I want it! Haha
Ha he's never gunna sell it :/ and what's heartbreaking is it was completely restored when he parked it. The window was down and a horse ate the interior... Haha
Got my new coils and control arms in the front this morning and my shackle relocation brackets in.
Now my leaf spring doesn't look happy haha time for new ones. If anyone knows where to get a good 2" lift leaf pack let me know. But it's way flexier in the rear now! Very happy with them.
Thanks man!
These are the gauges I snagged out of my brothers zj that blew the engine. The photo is of them installed in his jeep. I'm thinking about fabricating an overhead console that houses these gauges, a switch panel, and my cb radio.
