Im in the market for some new tires. Just wondering what your guys opinions were. Im looking to get some 35x12.50x15's for my scrambler. Im still deciding between cooper discoverer stt's, km2's, or general grabbers. Basically just want a reasonably priced tire with a decent agressive tread on it. Opinions?
Are you looking for an MT or an AT tire? I just got the General Grabber AT2s in 235/75R15 and I'm really happy with them. Haven't had a chance to take em in the dirt yet, but on the snow and ice they're great.
Old style or the new Kevlars? The new MT/R K's will hands down walk all over the KM2's.With your location you will hate the KM2's in the winter, they suck offroad also.
Then go with the KM2's.
I know quite a few people who run them and they absolutely love them.
And I've read many reviews on them since thats what I'm going to get when I get new tires, and I have yet to read one bad review.
I have STT's and love them. I don't have first hand knowledge of how they handle snow, but have been told by people in the north that they are good for that.
Anybody have any good places to buy tires? Ive been looking at a bunch of different websites, so far the best deal I've found is a set of discoverers for 904 shipped.
No, it's my project rig, a cj-8. I have a xj as a dd. I mainly will drive the cj around town if it's nice out and wheel trails in the area during the summer.
I have 33' cooper stt's that I just put on my XJ Saturday. So far, I like them a lot. Took them through some mud, sand and water on Sunday and felt good about their performance. If you can get them for 904 shipped I'd say that's a heck of a deal. Got mine for 830 with a fleet discount.
Just ordered the cooper discoverer stt 35's from tirecrawler for 904 shipped. Cant wait for them to arrive. Also bought some new american racing wheels to go with them. How hard is it to mount the tires on the wheel myself without a tire machine? The only two shops around me said they would charge 130 for just mounting the tires to the wheels, not even on the jeep. Seeing if i can save myself some money.
I love my KM2's They perform great offroad if I cant get enough bite I will heat spin them a little and heat them up then they have an amazing amount of grip ! They are like a poor mans Krawler. If they go on a DD I recommend getting them siped if you live in an area with a good bit of snow
