I would check the codes just to be certain, according to my dealership buddies there are a number of issues that could cause the message.
Had the dealer check it out before I bought it, they couldn't find anything, no codes associated with it just the message. Also just had it in again last week, had the starter switch replace cuz it was running rough and throwing a bunch of other codes and they didn't say anything about it.

That's strange, we tried running the codes with a local shops computer and it couldn't read any codes, the dodge dealer had to read mine before it would show.

You can probably change it without dropping the dif like I did, it might be worth checking the next fluid change.

On a side note, having the solenoid replaced I am getting 4-6 mpg higher now.

I had the same code. Dealer did a flash on the computer. Just needed that update.

Well,
I got bored, decided to plasti-dip my stock chrome wheels. (I hate chrome)
Im on my second coat.

My plan was to make them flat black with silver nuts, and the center "Jeep" cap silver with the writing in black.
Its also like 30 degrees outside, so im painting them in my garage, which is probably around 40. So hopefully they turn out ok.

I did mine that way but didn't clean the corners well enough so they peeled in a couple days. Looked awesome tho.

Damn those look really nice like that. I didn't leave the ring on the edge. I painted that.

I also like your wheels a lot better, my 2008 has a different design, I'm not too fond of.

I washed them pretty good first.... but I didn't get in there with rubbing alcohol or anything. I really hope they don't peel on me, that would suck a little.

Alright, finished the plasti-dipping of my wheels today. I think it turned out pretty good.

The plasti-dip of the actual wheels was easy, although I did quite a few coats just to be sure that not silver shined through in the inner parts of the wheel.

The harder part was the center cap. i wanted to keep it silver but paint the "jeep" logo black. My first idea was to just plasti-dip the whole center cap, then take a razer blade and cut out the letters and peel the rest off. That didn't end up working like planned, and the razer wouldn't cut the plasti-dip well, it just kind of pulled it off. So my second plan was to tape off everything except the "jeep" logo, which took a good 30 minutes of real fine painters tape and razer work. But in the end, when I pulled off the tape, it still pulled the letters off with it. So I just went basic, and took some flat black paint, and a paint brush and I brushed a few layers of black into the "jeep" logo of the center cap, then I sprayed some clear coat matte on the center caps, to remove some of the chrome mirror finish. That actually worked quite well, and made the chrome cap look more like normal silver.

Here are some final pics, it was dark out when I finally got everything back together, so I will try to get a daylight picture tomorrow.

Got the driver-side pinch weld done. The passenger-side will have to wait a few weeks. Fortunately, I'm in no hurry (low budget).

Btw - Anyone think I flattened it enough? I borrowed 2.5lb sledge from a friend & this is my first time w/ a project like this.

Over the weekend I got some of my stereo finished up. My RCA cables came in the mail Wednesday so ran those, along with the single RCA cable for the rear view camera. Got the double din Pioneer unit installed and it’s mostly working. I have some alternator noise which is kind of annoying, and still have to install the rear camera and a microphone at some point and the PAC unit to interface with the steering wheel controls, but the biggest advantage is the GPS and iPod integration.

I’ve also decided on doing a false floor in the rear. My amps would overheat on our trips to Iowa (5 hour drive) since they are enclosed in the little storage cubby in the cargo area. I’ll take some pictures when I get the false floor project.

I also got my plastidip in the mail so I will be doing my B and C pillars in the near future. Excited about that one, could change the look of the whole Jeep.

I would Flatten it all the way. I have read to many times that people need to re flatten it again. Just go all the way from the beginning.

I agree, I flattened mine as much as possible. Better safe than sorry.

I folded mine completely flat then welded the seems where I cut it. Make sure you prime it real good. I coated mine with a can of rubberized undercoating.
Thanks guys!

I'll prolly get after it after I do the other side. That metal right there was a lot stiffer even than it looked. Besides, the "dead-blow" hammer takes a little getting used to for me.

Also, anyone know the best points for jack stands? I had a hard time finding places that seemed to work & be safe.

I always use the section of body just in front of of the trans crossmember.

As for the pinch weld, a hammer isn't all I used, I used a crescent wrench to fold the welds over then a hammer to smash it down flat.
Ok. I'll try that.

Thanks!
