Hey all, I'm posting this for a friend.

He has an 03 Liberty with the 3.7L and it's throwing trouble code 171 Bank 1. I did a search on here and someone mentioned something about it being lean if that's the code. He did not mention on how to fix it. I told my friend that it's most likely an 02 sensor. Can anyone confirm this please?

Thanks

Maybe, maybe not. P0171 says bank 1 fuel trims indicate a very lean condition, usually +20%. Question 1 is, is the fuel trims on bank 2 reading normal, +/- 5%, or they just under the threshold? If they are in fact normal, then your problem is confined to bank 1. Could be a faulty O2 sensor, could be an injector, or injectors on that bank partially clogged, causing an issue. If you or your friend do decide to replace it and roll the dice, dont buy one of those junk bosch sensors from AZ, etc. Get an NTK brand, or an oe sensor from the dealer. If you dont... youll be sorry...
