some guys from Illinois and indiana are hitting up the badlands on the 6th. Going to meet there around 9 Indiana time and wheel all day.. then camp out at summers camp ground and possibly wheel the next day as well. Anyone interested?

Hell.. i only live 45 mins away and we camp.. we do it just because we enjoy camping and it gives you the chance to check out everyone elses jeep. we will grill out and drink a few beers and BS. youre more than welcome to join the group if youd like. its faily cheap too. 20 bucks for a site.. but you can split a site with someone.. so youre typically looking at 10 bucks or so. this is from last time we went...

How built up are the jeeps in the group going to be? I live a few hours north of Attica and would like to go, but my jeep is fairly stock. 1" shackle lift and 1" BL with 30x9.5R15 tires. Would my jeep be able to keep up with the others? Also this would be my first time at the Badlands.

New to this forum, been over at wranglerforum.com for a few months.

I'm looking at wheeling the on 6th. Girls are going out of town & me & my son need something to do. Was thinking of making a trip to Interlake, but might join this group if you all don't mind. It's about an hour shorter drive for me than Interlake.

Anyone else bring kids. My boys only 4, goes by the name of Bubba.

I usually bring my son (just turned 6), but I have prior arrangements for Saturday. I'm hoping to meet up with some of you on Sunday though.

Well if I can get my new rear bumper on this weekend I might go. I've been wanting to go to the Badlands all summer. Just never had a group or anyone to wheel with.

Welp...

we have a wide variety of jeeps going.. some stock.. all the way up to competition ready! there are by passes on every trail so if you dont think you can make it you can drive around. we are also now up over 25 jeeps going.. not including the handful of maybes. some people are camping out the night before.. some are meeting at the badlands saturday morning. the group of 6 jeeps i convo over with will be meeting in champaign, il and heading out around 7 am. we usually get to the badlands around 9 or 9:30 attica time since they are an hour ahead of us and meet in the lower lot and are usually on the trails by 10. we are also camping out that night at the summers campground which is 5 mins away from the badlands. Its a good time to sit and have a few beers, grill out, and check out everyones rigs. Some are going back to the badlands the next day. I am guessing most of you guys have CBs? i am not sure what channel everyone is planning on running but as soon as it is posted I will post it here.

Im thinking about joining you guys if that's cool? I'm pretty new to the Jeep scene, but have been dying to get her on the trail. Just added an M8000 & now have a little more confidence in my ability to get out of a bad situation.
Does anyone have an objection to me bringing a buddy who runs a 70's Bronco on 35's?

you will be fine. Anyone who doesnt have a winch we just stick between 2 people who do in case they get stuck its easy to pull them in any direction. and sure.. bring them along. I actually have been trying to get my buddies Bronco running so he can come out with us but its been quite a chore.

I just ordered a CB yesterday, so I'll be studying my trucker lingo. Hope to get it installed next week.

I've never been to the badlands, so I'll need to grab a flag when I get there. How does everyone attach theirs to their rig?
There are a million different ways to attach a flag. some people use zip ties... some people make their own mount. I went to the easiest secure way... If you go to pretty much any bicycle shop you can buy a flag and a mount \ there that attaches to bike axles. They are about 5-8 bucks. Badlands flags are 20 bucks.. but have a lifetime warranty on them. Coincidentally.. that axle mount fits perfectly on the bolts around jeeps windshield.. so i just loosened the bolt and put the bracket on and tightened the bolt back up. It doesnt rust or anything so I never remove it.

Oh.. and there is a guy driving down from canada to offroad with us and he is bringing his kid.. and I belive a couple other people are as well.

CB should be here today! UPS put it on the wrong damn truck yesterday, but at least I got the antenna mounted & the cable run.

We'll be driving up Saturday morning. Anyone else coming from South, East or Southeast side of Indy? Not sure if we're going to be camping or not. Might hang out for a while after wheeling, then head back home. We'll see.

there are a couple that are hanging out after wheeling and then either going to a hotel (they dont camp) or heading back home. There are a couple people coming from around Indy, but they are on another forum. if you dont convoy over with them this time then maybe on one of the next trips.

I went to Badlands about two weeks ago had a great time. Word to the wise stay the heck out of the culverts. Water was 40 inchs deep coming out and dropping down. Covered my hood and sucked about 2 or 3 gallons of water into my motor. Had to pull all the plugs and pump out the water. Two years ago the water was only about 8 inchs deep.

not sure if that count has any overlapped members included.. but it looks like we are going to have well over 40 jeeps. gonna be a fun/busy day. As far as I know.. JKF plans on running CB channel 16. so I will more than likely be running 16 from about 8 oclock on when we hit the trails. we are going to have to split into smaller groups so im guessing channels 17 and 18 will be used as well. Kellerrumps said that his group of guys will be running channel 1 as well. We plan on meeting up in the lower lot at around 9 or 9 3o and be on the trails by 10. I figure we could all meet in the quarry and do lunch and get some pics since this is going to be a huge group. That work for everyone?

Hey Nickit1981

I am comming down with numbers 20 & 21 plus another JK.

I am not going to wheel hard since I have a couple Jeep Jamborees comming up.

I would be willing to take a small group of stock new people and work with them in the morning. They could run what they want after lunch.

Hi Heilis. Looking foward to seeing you again.

yeah that works. I mean it only make sense to break up into groups with similarly modded jeeps. I know Cody and Tom (dirtman) and Brad.. and a couple of the other guys will hit it pretty hard and while its fun watching them its kind of a pain for them to have to keep an eye on all the less capable vehicles on the trails they choose... not that they ever complain or anything. I just figure they want to do the more difficult stuff. i will prolly go with a medium to advanced group... so what ever works.

Was a good time. My Jeep impressed me once again with the things it can do!

Here are a couple crappy pics I took with my phone. Card was full in the good camera.

Some poor sap stuck after the tunnels. Exactly why I steered clear of those!

One of John & Jake(?) in the deep mudhole that Kirby(?) went in later in the day. Kind of wish kirby didn't chicken out & stayed put for a couple pics, He was up there. Sorry for the tree in the way.

I didn't get many names & probably don't remember half of them I did, but it was still a good time & I'm sure we'll wheel again!!
