Hey guys, I hope this is the right place to post this. I'm trying to find somebody to regear my ride and the nearest 4 Wheel Parts quoted me at nearly 2000 bucks. I'm having trouble finding any alternatives, and I dont want a gas station mechanic doing the work.

I'm in Joshua Tree, CA and am wondering if any of you know of alternative offrading shops in the area. Thanks.

LOL, thats like 5 minutes from my house. I'm about to call and see what they do. Thanks for the help man. My GoogleFu was not strong on this one.

Wow, 200 bucks is a good deal.

I just called West Coast Broncos, and they were extrememly helpful. They gave me the number for the guy they use for difs, and I just spoke with him. He charges 375 per axle with my parts. Even said he'd let me sit and watch him do the work if I wanted to see how its done. I'll keep on searching for a better deal, but I'm already saving 900 bucks from my original quote from 4wheelparts.

The guy actually told me to avoid 4wheel parts because they sell a lot of cheap stuff and recommended buying Yukon gears off of Randys Ring and Pinion. Now i just have to read some reviews. thanks for the help guys.

375 per axle is a decent deal in CA. what kind of warranty is that coming with? I am always a little hesitant to buy parts somewhere and then have somebody else install them. If something goes wrong, then the installer can always point the finger at the parts and vice versa. If it is the parts, then the parts might be warranteed, but you'd have to pay the labor again.

Well, the guy does all the Diff work for a big custom Bronco shop up here so I'm fairly confident he's good at gear swaps. He also told me I should really only consider Yukon gears and that anything else is crap, so he's got my confidence as far as a phone call goes. We'll see though. Planning on doing the gear swap ASAP after getting new tires and rims on next week. My main concern is on the death wobble my chewed up tires are giving me. Cant wait to test out new gears on nice tires though.

Anyone have any money to spare? ;)

yeah i'd steer clear of 4 wheel parts too. too many horror stories about those guys, I only use them if i absolutely have to, namely for Pro Comp tires since ORW doesn't carry them. that being said, Off Road Warehouse is probably one of the best chain 4x4 shops in SoCal. I have had nothing but fantastic experiences and great customer service from them. Never had them do any work on my Jeep, but getting stuff from them is the best. they really go out of their way to help you get what you need, even if you dont get it from them!! A few times i have gone in looking for something they didn't have but could order, and the guys at the counter have actually called around to other off-road shops to find the part for me in stock somewhere and given me directions to get there!! Now that is service!
