I have most of this in my build thread but I figured I would also add it here in the Fab section.

I came down hard on a rock a few weeks ago and tore apart the factory track bar bracket on my Jeep and finally decided it was time to fix the problem.

Here is a quick writeup of the work in case anyone has to do the same thing at one point or another.

First I had to get the original bracket off, COMPLETELY!

Then I had to clean up the area for the new bracket.

Then a new bracket had to be fabricated.

Old Vs. New

Mock up.

Final prep.

Time to make it stick!

The final product.

Thats all. Feel free to ask questions and fire remarks. :cheers2:

Nice rig. My Dad was a Diesel mechanic for 30+ years and I grew up around them. I've been helping/working/volunteering for a charity truck show every year since I could. That truck would definitely take a trophy or two! Once I turn 21 I want to get my CDL, and eventually one my own truck, more so for the heck of it.

Again very pretty truck. :cheers2:

Realize this is an old thread, but nice job Kenbo. Hopefully I will finally learn to TIG someday. :D I doubt that it would make a difference and not to question your work, but I think I would have maybe rounded of the bracket sides to mirror the trac bar end. For some reason, I picture square corners and right angles on things under the Heep to be more chance for hang ups. Anyway, looks strong!

The new bracket sits about 1.25 - 1.5" higher than the factory bracket. Aesthetically speaking, adding a radius would have looked sleeker but as far as functionality goes, wouldn't have made a difference.

The corners only protrude roughly 0.25" from the edge of the bushing.
