Just purchased a bone stock (but not for long!) '05 LJ. Will be posting the mods in the near future.
It's my DD, and my wife & I will use as the Jeep as a dingy behind our camper/dually for exploring the SouthWest.
Purchased a stock '05 LJ Rubicon H/T. First jeep I've owned. First attempt at using 4wd today met with mixed results. Shifts into 4H and gears down in 4L, but the indicator lights in the instrument cluster don't illuminate and the electric axle lock switch doesn't come to life either. I put a 2" Mopar hitch on the rear. A small lift will be of the first order this spring. Purchased a used soft top that is need of some repair to one of the bows and looking forward to getting it installed for the warm weather.
Hello everyone! I have a 2005 LJ Rubicon. No pics yet. My wife and I have been building on this stock model for a couple of months 3.5" RE lift with 33" BF AT's. Purchased new OEM soft top from Craigslist. Safari straps. Smittybilt Safari bikini top. G.E.A.R. seat covers and rear door cover. This is our 3rd jeep. Tom
I figured just purchasing my fourth LJ, I better join up.
I still have two both 24s optioned Unlimited's.
1) A 2005' man six speed lifted on 35's.
And the purchase this week of a 2006' auto 2" BB w/31's on it for now.
I broke my wrist over a week ago and had surgery, so the manual has to go..
I have owned JK's both two and four doors, YJ, CJ, All I can say is
"I'LL always own an LJ" What a choice they gave us... That is why the four door JK is so popular because it offers something different then the standard short wheel base Jeep, which should always be kept alive too...
Too bad they won't make a longer 2 door version again.. especially with that 3.6L now. I think the FJ would have more competition then it could handle.
Hey all, my name is dave and I own an LJ
I bought it a couple of weeks ago, it's an 05 rubicon (with a brand new opda) six speed, 4.5 inch long arm, 1 inch of BB, smittybuilt tube fenders, a pretty basic tire carrier, 35 inch goodyear mtr's and American Racing Mojave Teflon wheels. FYI, it came with the wheels, I wouldn't have chosen them, but I think they look ok.
Soft top only, I'm torn between a full hard top and a gr8top half cab.
Last weekend I went for a 5 day trip in the mojave with it and LOVED it. My last jeep, a YJ is like a tractor with 4 wheel drive, the LJ is practically a limo! Long arm lift, unlimited and bilstiens are a winning combo for me. Over the weekend I tried progressively more difficult obstacles and even hanging the rear bumper on a 3+ foot ledge in a ditch was still able to drive off it!
Very happy. :) I told my friends I want this one to be my last jeep, they were bummed to hear about it because I wont shut up about how much I love it ;)
Hi, everybody! I just got a 2004 red LJ, pretty much bone stock. It's got a new soft top,but I'm in the process of finding out what needs fixing. I've ordered a tailgate bar (it poured rain into the back the past two days) and new door straps. My tailgate hinges appear to be broken--the door swings into the lights--and my front speakers are blown. And I love it.
Hello, just bought a used(of course) 04 LJ here in NYC. All stock for now. Use to be a Mustang/Ford(Lincoln Mark 8) guy, so before I even bought it I'm looking at parts...first time jeep owner. After the winter we had last year I figured I would need one, but now that I have something with 4wd, it will never snow again. Anyway just want to say hey, and be ready for alot of questions from me, maybe, I have been doing a lot of research on LJs and might need some guidance once in awhile about them if I can't find it online here.
I've had my '05 LJ for about 6 months now, just getting ready to start spending money...
Have had a 2005 Impact orange LJ and just started to mod it!
