Windows in '09 Patriot: slow, stuck, frozen, etc

this is my first post on this forum so hi.

My Wife has a white 09 patriot (pics or stfu right? see below) and as it started to get colder this winter she started to notice her windows wouldnt go down. So when she took it into the dealer, of course they all went down. It doesnt have to be 0 degrees out (like today) but when it was 35 close to 40 they wouldnt go down. In any car I have ever had with power windows, if they are frozen a little up/down/up/down action on the switch would help the window get "unstuck" but not with this patriot.

Does anyone have anything similar they can share? I searched and didnt find anything on the forum. Maybe its just the switch, but compared to other cars, the windows roll down slow and the motors seem weak.

Besides this, we are extremely happy with the Patriot and Jeeps in general. My dad has two Cherokees and a Wrangler and my brother has an '08 Patriot.

only pic I have online of it.

any help or insight from others would be appreciated.

I haven't had any problems with my windows...yet. Make sure you keep it documented though if it continues to happen or stop by the dealer just to have them look at it when it does happen agian.
Glad to hear you're enjoying the ride besides that, and thanks for the pic

This may or may not be related. When we bought our Compass the windows would streak with grease when we ran them up and down. We took it to the dealer and he said there was too much grease and also that they needed adjusted. After that, no more grease, and they went up and down faster and smoother. Maybe an adjustment would help. Check with your dealer. Good luck!

im going back to the dealer monday morning. so we will see then.

jacko: no grease, but maybe the adjustment...just seems odd all wont roll up/down.

everyone: compared to your other vehicles do you think the windows are weak?

I had this problem and reported it in Compass Owner Review. My long winded story about mine. The window tracks sound like they are out of adjustment, providing they aren't frozen shut. Mine was the driver side rear only.

Just to report on what the Service Dept told me.

They said the main switch was bad and when it was cold the electronics would not work as well. Which is why sometimes they would work and sometimes wouldnt.
