Where is the Cabin Air Filter?

There's nothing in the Owner's Book about where the Cabin Air Filter is in the Patriot FDII Off-Road Group. I thought it would be somewhere up against the firewall in the engine compartment but don't see it. Is it inside the vehicle? It's recommended to be replaced every 12,000 miles on the "B" schedule.

Hi
It's behind the glove box very easy to change.

Merlin, my 30k service is coming up soon and I was wondering, how do you get the glove box off to get to it? Mine is a Caliber but it should be close to the same process. I've also heard that the non security group ones have the ducting and filter box, just not the filter. Is this true?

1. Open the glove box.

2. Squeeze inward on the sides of the glove box so that the stops will clear the glove box opening, thus allowing the glove box to swing down.

3. Peer into the glove box opening and you will see a rectangular cover with air flow arrows on it- release the tabs and remove the cover. If there is already a filter in place- simply pull it out. If there was not a filter then just insert a new filter element.

4. Change the filters about once a year regardless of mileage- the debris that the filter catches will surprise you.

I bike therefore I work.

Yes, all Calibers, Patriots, Compasses have the air filter slot, just the filter was not installed.

I'm not sure on that. You can get the OEM online, 5058381AA, for about $14 but I would check the dealer first to avoid shipping.

I have found these WIX part #s:
24578
24313
And the filter dimensions too:
Length: 8.625
Width: 7.625
Height: 1.000

Perhaps there are other brands with these dimensions.

I found the online price of 24578 is $9.23 and 24313 is $25.79 ( at Rockauto.com) Not sure why the price is so different.

Drop the "2" on the WIX #'s and you have the NAPA #.

Looking up the 4578 at NAPA, that one has dimensions of 1"x18"x4.6", so maybe that part # is not correct (or the dimensions given by NAPA are wrong)

Maybe I'll stop by NAPA next time I'm over there and try to see both filters to confirm fitment.

No problem! I had already check to see if I had a filter and knew the exact steps needed to get to it.

Gramps, I spent about 2 hours trying to locate one filter online with that # but no luck. I am going to try the wix since its the same size. I do have to stop at the dealer tue. I would figure they have one in stock to pick up.
