Anyone have any ideas what this electronic piece is on top of my 2012 patriot air filter cover? It makes changing the air filter a pain in the ***

seriously? and they mounted it to the air filter cover? what a mess. Changing air filters is normally 2 latches and about 3 minutes, now its about 7 bolts (and you almost need a specialty screwdriver to reach 2) and 30 minutes to replace.

No clue if it'll be the same but my K&N Air Filtercharger lasted 80,000 miles and really improved gas mileage in my Mountaineer before I got the Patriot.

Throw in a K&N and you won't have to worry about it for a few thousand miles.
