on this C4C deal I traded in my 2002 Mecury Mountaineer with a whopping 14 MPG! I am a city driver so it really is was more like 12! On the highway those I did get decent miles for the size. V8, AWD and fully loaded. But my transmission was starting to slip at 79k miles and I did not want to fix it. It just would not be cost beneficial and I was worried about future mechanical failures. and the 2002 's transmission was known for failing and repeated failures after repairing.

Traded in my 94 Ford Ranger under the Cash for Clunkers. Was a real good truck, but was just getting old.

2002 F-150 xtra cab, 4.6 v8. It had 110k on it and never had any major replacements or problems. I've got some separation anxiety from it but I'm sure I'll get over it!

I actually got $4850 for a trade in on it and then $3500 cash allowance, I put a small down payment so I only really had to pick up a small loan.

This is my first Jeep product! Patriot Sport 4x2, 2.4L.

Traded my '99 dakota sport 5.2 L, 5 spd man, 2wd, 17-20 mpg. Bought it 2 yrs ago and i don't think i ever stopped repairing it. The last straw was when the drivers side front wheel bearing went out AGAIN!! It looked good, but mechanically it was a piece of crap. This is a short list of fixes- 1. shocks 2. u-joints 3. clutch 4. frozen brake caliper 5. BOTH front wheel bearings etc.
I love my new jeep, i don't have to fix anything!!!

2005 Ford Focus. Being a 6'6" guy it might have made sense initially to go with the Focus due to the price and monthly payment, but being someone that drives 20,000+ miles between work and personal use, I wanted something with more room and more amenities to make the time more enjoyable. Two and a half years later I still love my 2007 Patriot!

My first post here!

I have been a Jeep Patriot owner now for just under 23 hours so I cannot say how much I love it but am glad the process of buying it is over - I hope!

I did the Cash for Clunkers deal and quite possibly bought the last Patriot within 500 miles of Central Illinois yesterday!!!

I traded in my 1991 Chevy Blazer S-10 that had 220,000 miles on it and was so rusty I was afraid if I had to put on the brakes suddenly, the body would continue on down the street while the chassis and wheels remained behind...

Anyway, it is a base model (Sport) and I need to upgrade it with Ventvisors, front end cover (Bug-deflector or Bra), tint the windows and whatever else I learn about here that will improve it's ability to last and provide my kids and me with years of service.

Any and all suggestions are welcome!

i traded in our 2000 Montero Sport with the Cash for Clunkers program for a 2009 Compass Sport. love it so far, though i'm not sure if i'll ever get used to the CVT2 - just seems much more "jerky" to me than a normal auto transmission. could just be my driving style. but my wife will get the compass once we sell/trade her '06 beetle (first kid on the way so we need more space!)

My wife traded her 1997 Green Jeep Cherokee for a 2009 Patriot. The right passenger window would not go down, the AC broke three weeks ago and we are in New Orleans, LA, 2 miles from hell in the summer. The thing got 10 miles to the gallon and made all kinds of awful noises.

You know what? I wish I had it back. At least I could trust it to get her and my 5-year-old son around without getting them killed.

Please read the thread "2009 Patriot jumps from "Drive" into 1st intermittently". We had it 4 days. They won't exchange it and it's been at the dealer for almost a week.

We both like it. It's nice inside and comfortable, but it's not dependable. I know this is an isolated instance, but Jeep has to make this right for us.

I've had a jeep CJ7 for 19 years. I have a lot of problems, but I can at least work on it. Same for the Cherokee we had.

2000 Ford windstar, no problems. Just very heavy wear and tear, abs issue and time for a suspension. Dealer gave me 10k. The Jeep is a bargain. I have to laugh at some of the negitave reviews. Looking closer at some of the blog/reviews you will see that the "experts" could'nt figure out how to turn off the horn or lights on the keyless entry LOL. For the urban/fire roads/ hardpack that the wife would use this on its perfect. And like I told her - which other cars in the class are trail rated to 19 inches of water? She has put 2500 mi on it since July 27th hauling 4 bikes and gear from Washington D.C to Northern Mi for vacation. We got to use the seasonal roads (4x4 light) and saw some beautiful American countryside. Looking forward to the beach rental/camping. Big thanks to the Jeep folks.

arldavey,

I sent you a PM to see what your experiences have been with the Windstar. Now back to the OP!

2005 Land Rover LR3...35K on it....this is going to be tough. We loved the Rover - solid as a rock, I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E off road capabilities with the three diff's. Ran out of warranty, and wasn't looking forward to paying top dollar for repair/parts down the road, not to mention the 14mpg. I'm really crossing my fingers that the Patriot is going to be fairly trouble free at least.
2 years ago the wife decided she absolutely had to have the LR3, and we traded off her very trouble free, low mile TJ on it. Got a decent deal on the LR3, but we didn't do so well on the trade yesterday. But I told her this is it for her for a long time.....

My wife and I traded in our 2005 Pontiac Vibe for a Compass. The vibe was getting a little higher mileage so we decided it was time to get a new vehicle. We knew we wanted a 4wd but never planned on Jeep. This is the first Jeep we LOVE it. I had to talk my wife into test driving the Compass. She really wasn't interested but finally came around to the idea. We wanted a Rallye but they wanted way too much money for it. We are so glad we ended up with the regular Compass instead of the Rallye. No regrets. We love it.

I traded a 1998 Land Rover Discovery 1 in for my MK and I like the gas mileage of my MK but the height and the seats were better in my Disco. and one would know what I mean if they have sat in a Disco
