Valve train noise ?

Hey all,

My g/f has a 2007 Patriot Sport 2.4L 4wd and she mentioned a "fan" noise the other day.
So this morning when she started it, I was under the hood listening for a "fan" noise. after the idle dropped i could hear a faint valve train type noise.
I removed the engine cover and had her rev the engine... I could hear it louder with higher RPMs and it seemed to be coming from the passenger side of the engine.

Has anyone experience any issues ? the jeep has 82,533 miles on it.
I have personally changed the oil every 3K miles with full synthetic. Yes, should bought the jeep new.

is there some sort of maintenance that I may have missed ?

any information or experiences would be great.... i tried a google search but did not come up with anything.

They say the cvt whines when it's coming due for a fluid change. Not sure if it does it idleing though.

this is not a whining noise.

forgot about this thread.
for those of you who may encounter this noise / problem in the future....it turned out to be the alternator.

the internal clutches were broken apart and it was spitting out dust particles as the vehicle was running.
apparently a common problem with chrysler products.

^because alternators haven't been around long enough yet for them to get it right :-/

sorry there is no internal clutches, however there is brushes which wear on all alternators not just Chrysler.
