UK/EU Diesel service intervals and warranty

Two things that annoy me about the UK Patriot are the service interval and warranty. The Diesel engine needs to be serviced at 9k to maintain warranty. Now this is a VW Diesel as also fitted to a range of VW Audi SEAT and Skoda cars and in those vehicles has a service interval of 18-24k. I feel we are being ripped off by uneeded services. Also if you do 4k mikes a month like me you are constantly having to go to the dealership which is not convenient.

Also the warranty is 60k miles or 3 years. Most of the competition (mainly far eastern is for 100k). KIA warranty is 150k or 7 years!

These two factors may mean my next 4x4 is not a jeep.

I'm a bit disappointed with the Jeep warranties, too. There's nothing to brag about there but I haven't needed much in warranty work either.

same here (portugal), services every 15k km (+-9k miles) and about 320 euros = 264 bp = 400 dollars (not changing brake pads)

but the warranty is for 2 years without km limitations only needed to use it once to get a new radio... the old one jammed everytime i changed the channel

Hi
Newer ones are now going over to flexible oil changes 20.000 miles 2 years with the introduction of an oil monitor that the older ones didn't have hence the 9K service.
60k 3 years is only the basic warranty you do get 5 year emissions warranty and 7 years corrosion if you look into it correctly. So jeep could also say you get 7 years warranty if they wish. Not looked into the KIA warranty to see if it covers everything for 7 years.
Regards,
Merlin

Not so much worried about the years as the mileage. 60k is poor these days. The Kia/Hyundai warranties cover most major mechnaical and electrical. Things like radio/cd stop after 3 years.

My main dealer service for a two year old vehicle at 58k motorway miles cost a wapping 870ukp or 1350 dollars, which for this class of vehicle with a purchase price below 20k is mad.

It's 2 years unlimited mileage so mileage should not be an issue.

When you think of it if there is going to be a mechanical defect it's more like going to be in the first 3 years or 60k. After that it's more ware and tare and doesn't matter what make of vehicle you have you are going to have a hard time to get it under warranty.

I dont know about the UK but here in america is it only 3years or 36k miles.

But I do not worry all that much that is what my compass has lifetime total wrap warranty. Unlimited mileage until I die or the year 2099 what ever comes first.

They dont sell CRD here.

I do have a CRD Liberty and had the same 3year/36000 base warranty that all my other jeeps had.

In Europe warranties are getting longer. I work in the UK but live in France. Kia/Hyundai in Europe are offering 5-7 years and 100,000 miles. Toyota are now offering 5 year and 100k. Renault are doing 4 years in France. VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda do 3 years and 100,000 miles as do Ford.

All of these manufacturers have competent 4x4 offerings.

Jeep is falling behind the game. My two year old 66k Jeep is out of warranty.

Yeah it just a different culture over there.

Power train on most jeeps over here are 5/100,000 miles
But the bumper to bumper is still 3/36000 for most cars, trucks, suvs

Just from the american view heck that an extra 30k more then we get with out going to extended warranties.
