TPMS Sensors

Hey all

During this weekend i broke, all 4.. yes all 4 TPMS sensors on my tires due to my stupidity, i had chrome valve caps, which i didnt realize "not all of us read the manual once we buy our cars" that it would possibly ruin your sensors once you try to take them off.

anywho, with that being said, i have to replace all 4 sensors, im going to take it to discount tire, and get them for cost. along with free balance and rotation

but i have a few questions. currently the tires just have normal valve stems on them. Car is going in tuesday for new sensors. my questions are, is the car going to be ok for 2-7 days without the sensors. IE.. with it screw the computer or break anything without the sensors being equipped. Dealership says no but i wanted to get a second answer.

2nd question is. since i only have normal valve stems i noticed the car is shaking at high speeds 65-75 MPH do you think the balance might be off on all 4 tires due to the sensors missing from the rims?

Thankyou for your answers

Hi
The fact the sensors are not there will not screw anything up you will just get the warning lights and chimes going.
Regards,
Merlin

Thankyou Merlin, What about the shaking at high speeds, it only started happening once they took out the sensors and replaced them with normal valve stems

If they (you) didn't re-balance, then yes you've changed the balance.

No they never rebalanced them, i figured it would be pointless during that time because i am going to get the sensors replaced.

Another question. my buddy who is Asst Manager for discount tire told me he can get them to me for cost, install and reprogram the the sensors..

My question is what is the cost for these sensors? Dealership says they go from 50-100.00 + a 98.00 reprogramming fee!

I suggest keeping your speed down to under 55 until you get them rebalanced. Wyckoff has them for $36 each but you'll have shipping on top of that. These don't need to be reprogrammed as far as I know, that's on the earlier stuff that takes a magnet around the valve stem to reset them and $98 sounds ridiculous!

I have a question for you.

Does the TPMS light come on when you drive it without the sensors?
