TPM valves

I have just bought a 2012 Compass and traded in my 2010.
I have winter rims from the 2010 on the car for the winter
My question is can I add compatible TPM valves to the winter rims or do I just cover the light with electrical tape until i put the summer rims back on?

I'm going into my 7th winter with black steel rims without sensors and yes I do have black electrical tape on the dash to block out the yellow light.

I have a 2014 Compass. We recently fitted some bling chrome wheel with winter tires...the TPMS light never came on until I drove a little faster than usual, 130km/h to be exact and then it came on. I swapped the summer wheels on stock 17inch rims back and it went off within a few km. then I swapped the winter set back on and it's still we will just slow down...for winter that is.
