Guys,

Just to let you know that here in the Montreal winter tires are now manditory since last winter and most of us buy aftermarket steel wheels to have them mounted with the winter shoes.........needlesss to say that this year being its first winter........and especially with the price of the TPMS sensors......I decided to NOT install the sensors on.

Consequences are minimal.......a chime at start up........a flashing light for 30 seconds..............and it stays on after..............just put some black electric tape over and voila................

Done deal until April...............and a few hundred buck in my pocket !!!!

I bought steel wheels without sensors and put my winter tires on yesterday. I have the EVIC and even after standing overnight well beyond the 13 hours I heard about there are no TPMS complaints on the EVIC. When I display the status of the tires each one shows the same pressure I had on the All Season Wranglers which are hiding in the tool shed. I do have one OEM tire in the trunk for a spare.

Yep, the light finally came on just as you said. The black electrical tape hides the yellow indicator and incidentally the winter Michelin Xice Xi2 tires are coming in real handy today with a raging blizzard outside.

The Patriot with the winter Michelin tires is positively awesome in this Calgary snow storm. My 2nd choice would have been Canadian Tire Nordic tires with studs but I think the treadlife is a bit better with the Michelins.

I live in Alberta but in the province of Quebec winter tires are mandatory and many Patriot owners have another set of wheels just for their winter tires. Hopefully someone will post on here just what is needed for reprogramming if any when all 8 wheels have TPMS sensors.

No need to do anything, they program themselves. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f98/tpm-sensors-741251/#post6900643 not like the earlier Jeeps that you had to place a large magnet around the valve stem.

Has anybody tried putting kits in these sensors? I have a VERY slow leak (1 - 3 weeks to bleed down). I can't find a nail or anything so I am suspecting it's one of the seals in the valve stem.

My OEM wheel in the spare tire well is very slowly losing air pressure down to about 27 lb or so after a month of very cold temperatures - 25C. I think it is the temperatures because I don't remember any slow leaks when the All Season tires were on the Patriot in November. I'm gonna wait until April since I would not dare try to tighten the sensor and disturb the seal. Our local mechanic put silicone on a leaking sensor for our daughter's Nissan Quest rather than the expense of a new sensor.

It's only the drivers side rear that keeps leaking . I've found the kits on eBay, $12 for a set of 4. I thought about getting a set.
