Touch screen radios

Might of been asked a bunch of times before but im looking for some info. What factory touchscreen works in a 2012 compass. Is it the 430rbz? Low speed? Id like to upgrade the stock unit to a touch screen. Also is it directly plug n play no wire splicing? And wheres best place to buy for decent price new or used?

FYI: The days of "no wire splicing" the dashboard are gone with aftermarket radios. All you would need to buy a PAC-C2R-CHY4-Replacement-Interface-Chrysler or something similar depending on your car.

So when and if i sell my car, I can easily put the stock radio back in.

This has been a public service announcement. :D

So your telling me if i buy a touchscreen aftermarket and that plug you mentioned its plug n play? I havent swapped a head unit in like 6 yrs and i know it was a wiring mess. If thats the case of it being plug n play now thats awesome

I just want a touch screen (dont need nav or steering wheel controls, backup camera). Maybe ill check out some on Crutchfield if that harness makes it that easy.

You do have to connect the harness cables to the aftermarket's adapter cables (speakers, power, etc etc). That will require you to splice cables together but as far as your dashboard it stays as is. The reason why i went aftermarket was COST. At the time it was close to $1000 for navi/bluetooth from jeep. I did it for about $350.

Ok cool thanks for info ill have to check it out. I was looking for a stock one no nav..but no luck finding one yet. Was hoping to find one in the 300-400 dollar range.

Looking at the pioneer avh-p1400dvd on crutchfield on sale for $249. Comes with antenna adapter and trim for free. The Chrysler harness cost $50 . So $300 plus tax and free shipping. Think good deal? Is this all i need for it to work? Any input on this unit? I just want a touch screen that works well dont need nav or backup camera. Only thing i like more about the stock unit is the hard drive. Well any opinions greatly appreciated.

Oh yes I guess you are correct. And nice to see the price of those came down. I looked a couple years ago they were like $150-$200.

Looks like that one allows you to keep steering wheel controls too. Thats nice.

Yea its half off when you buy a radio on there site. Thanks for the help. I thought thats what id need

Do you have the boston system?

The stock deck with the boston system has digital outputs to an 8 channel amp behind the rear seats that take care of digital to analog processing duties. Any after market deck doesnt have digital out. That means youd have to run new wire to the speakers, and youd lose power output. Also would only have 4 channels vs 8 stock.

Nope no boston system
