Tires

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I have a 2008 Compass North on order and expect it to arrive in a couple of months. I want to get a set of winter tires on rims for quick changes and better handling in winter.

My current car is a Toyota Matrix which is going when I get the Jeep. I have a set of winters on rims. I was just wondering if anyone knew if I could use them on the Compass with new rims. The size is P205/55/R16

I know the Jeep has 17 inch and these are 16s. I've only used these for 2 winters so they still have some life left. If I can't use them I'll pick up a new set but just wanted to see if there was any way to get more use out of them. Thanks.

There's been a lot of talk about tires here, should have an answer to your question: http://jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=410134

The Matrix has a 5 X 100mm bolt pattern compared to Jeeps 5 X 114 (4.5") so that's not gonna work. Those P205/55R16's are only 24.87 tall too.

Welcome to the group.

Thanks for the help guys. I kind of suspected that the Matrix tires would be noticeably smaller just with a quick glance at the dealers. I just wanted to see if I could get any more use out of them. I think my safest bet would be to stick with stock size.

I'll keep those Matrix tires and try to sell them off to someone. Unless the dealer wants to give me a package price with the trade in.

This is my first Jeep brand vehicle. I've always wanted to either get a Wrangler or GC. But either I haven't had enough to buy one, or now with my 1 year old daughter it just wasn't practical. We are very excited as my wife also is a big fan of the Compass, although I preferred the Patriot.

At least I found out when I ordered that the 08 Compass also qualifies for the CDN Gvt $1000 rebate as last years did. So I'll probably pick up the same size and use that to pay for them, whenever it comes, probably a long time considering it's a government payment

Anyway, Thanks again for the help guys!
