Not a Compass owner but am a Jeep owner, but was just wondering if i read that correctly is the 09 $4000 cheaper then the 07?
If so I would go with the 09 and live without a sunroof or leather.
I personally prefer cloth, but if your set on a sunroof or leather it is your car so go for whatever you want!
Any other options different that would make up for the price change?
4x4 vs. FWD, 2.0 vs. 2.4? or maybe a MYGIG and stock subwoofer or tinted windows?

Get the 2009 and put a aftermarket sunroof in it. Oh, and it is a real Jeep!
I had an aftermarket sunroof in my XJ, and my buddy had one in his Intrepid be careful with them. Almost all are cheap, they open up then out so they don't fully open and will end up leaking pretty soon...
2.4L engine and front wheel drive doesn't seem like a real jeep to me
Eh yeah with FWD thats the killer althought i've seen a lot of 2wd Cherokees, granted that rear wheel and they make some sweet Pre-runners! A compass with a little lift, man tires, roof rack, lights etc. actually looks pretty nice as does a patriot.
ummmmmm if u want leather and a sunroof go buy a mercedes
89 MJ 4.0- Ax15, D30/D44, Getting a SOA and RC 4.5 stuff up front, 33/12.5s, Flowmaster Super 44 :)
Need a set of 15x8 rims please!
I've had and rode in Jeeps with all types of lifts and none of them rode like a car! It's a freaking Jeep.Love it or leave it.
The Patriots were really the ones with the leak problems, not the Compass. Since not all of the leaking ones had sunroofs I still think it was a quality issue sealing up the flat roof on the Patriots. The curved roof of the Compass better resists flex and isn't as libel to break a poorly manufactured seam, IMHO. I've had no manufacturing problems with my sunroof, only 2 leaks that were cause by leafs blocking the drain tubes and leaving it in vent position when we got a sudden down pour.
I like trucks and would like to get another but I do like the enclosed space to keep things dry!
Artificial intelligence is no substitute for natural stupidity
We have an '08 Compass Sport w/sunroof we bought new in November of 2007. It has 18,000 miles of trouble free use. We live in a heavy lake effect snow belt area of the Great Lakes, so it has seen all sorts of extreme weather. It's my wife's business transportation and she loves it. I too was concerned about the sunroof leak problem, but it hasn't leaked a drop (knock on wood!), and the only cleaning it gets is in a high pressure automated car wash.
No known problems here in Europe with the sunroofs leaking. They usually leak for two reasons (a) they are cheap after market ones that don't fit properly or have been badly fitted; or (b) they are old and the rubber seals after circa 10+ yrs have gone hard. While the second can be fixed, neither should bother you if the Compass has the factory fitted sun roof.
