thinking of buying a compass limited. HELP

I am finishing my lease and thinking of getting into a 07 compass with 32 thousand miles.

This one is the limited with all the bells and whisles but also includes
a sunroof

Im terrified after reading the threads about the leaks and problems people have had.

I need help guys should I just consider another truck. I like the looks but im really busy and dont have time to be dealing with leaks.Specially which i plan to keep this one for a long time.

Price is good just really scared of the sunroof and all the problems people have. Is anyone with a sunroof problem free. Anyone happy with this truck.

thinking of buying a compass limited. HELP

I am in the market and found a 07 jeep compass limited with 32000
it has a sun roof and im scared to buy it do to all the issues people are
having with leaks . but it looks good.

instead im looking at an 09 with 28000 miles no sunroof

or leather like the other plus its 4000 dollars cheaper but its much newer

is the one without the sunroof safer when it comes to leaks?
also how do you guys feel about your jeep compass ?
i drive maybe 30 miles a week so i dont drive much
but i dont want alot of issues

please help

i see you guys are great and hope to be part of the club
i just need to weight the pros and cons

Not a Compass owner but am a Jeep owner, but was just wondering if i read that correctly is the 09 $4000 cheaper then the 07?
If so I would go with the 09 and live without a sunroof or leather.
I personally prefer cloth, but if your set on a sunroof or leather it is your car so go for whatever you want!
Any other options different that would make up for the price change?
4x4 vs. FWD, 2.0 vs. 2.4? or maybe a MYGIG and stock subwoofer or tinted windows?

Get the 2009 and put a aftermarket sunroof in it. Oh, and it is a real Jeep!

I had an aftermarket sunroof in my XJ, and my buddy had one in his Intrepid be careful with them. Almost all are cheap, they open up then out so they don't fully open and will end up leaking pretty soon...

Eh yeah with FWD thats the killer althought i've seen a lot of 2wd Cherokees, granted that rear wheel and they make some sweet Pre-runners! A compass with a little lift, man tires, roof rack, lights etc. actually looks pretty nice as does a patriot.

Well the 07 limited has 32000 miles its a 4x4 leather, sunroof and every toy

The 09 is basic just power everything. 4000 cheaper and same mileage.

i love the sunroof but everyone keeps saying how these things leak.
Can anyone share stories about their sunroof ?

anyone not have any problems ?

anyone have the basic sport 09 compass and can put their 2 cents in .

i drive like 10 miles a day and im in florida and it does rain
and we are all flat so no real place to go rock climbing.

just want something small and nice and cheap

Instead of a Compass, you're actually looking for a car, based on your list of features you want. There are a whole lot of better choices for small, nice, cheap with sunroof.

Well at 12000 the compass is a super nice little suv

i really would like the compass as it has space for my dogs in the back
and when im buying things from home depot i can put stuff in

all ive heard are bad things about the sunroofs leaking and cars getting flooded

i just need someone who has a sunroof to tell me about experience
i use sunroof in my car all the time

for an 07 its not going to have warrenty so thats an issue if it was to start leaking or water getting in

The Patriots were really the ones with the leak problems, not the Compass. Since not all of the leaking ones had sunroofs I still think it was a quality issue sealing up the flat roof on the Patriots. The curved roof of the Compass better resists flex and isn't as libel to break a poorly manufactured seam, IMHO. I've had no manufacturing problems with my sunroof, only 2 leaks that were cause by leafs blocking the drain tubes and leaving it in vent position when we got a sudden down pour.

I like trucks and would like to get another but I do like the enclosed space to keep things dry!

We have an '08 Compass Sport w/sunroof we bought new in November of 2007. It has 18,000 miles of trouble free use. We live in a heavy lake effect snow belt area of the Great Lakes, so it has seen all sorts of extreme weather. It's my wife's business transportation and she loves it. I too was concerned about the sunroof leak problem, but it hasn't leaked a drop (knock on wood!), and the only cleaning it gets is in a high pressure automated car wash.

This IS a tech forum. If you guys have nothing of value to add concerning the MK then stay out and keep your opinions to yourselves or be banned.

Sorry TRANCEBOY for not responding sooner and for letting the trolls spew their garbage.

No known problems here in Europe with the sunroofs leaking. They usually leak for two reasons (a) they are cheap after market ones that don't fit properly or have been badly fitted; or (b) they are old and the rubber seals after circa 10+ yrs have gone hard. While the second can be fixed, neither should bother you if the Compass has the factory fitted sun roof.
