Thinking about adding an oil catch can

I'm pondering the idea of installing an oil catch can to the pcv system of my Compass. I noticed when I went to change to air filter earlier this spring that the old one had an clearly black spot on the filter right next to the inlet of the pcv hose on the air filter housing. What are your guy's thoughts on this? I know I would be another maintenance item that would need to be drained.

Switch to 5w30 engine oil and that issue should stop.

How would that help with oil vapor escaping through the pcv valve?

Less oil vapor to escape since your engine is designed to run 5w30 and not 5w20.
