Stock Stereo Power/Wiring Diagram

Anyone know what the RMS output for the stock 6 disc changer is?

According to mopar.com it has 66 watts of total power. That would put it at about 16 watts per channel. It doesn't say if that's 66 watts RMS or 66 watts peak though.

edit

According to an auction on ebay the unit is 66 watts RMS. It does not cite a source though so take it with a grain of salt.

Thanks!

Also,

I am adding two tweeters to the dash, i dont have the Bos Acoustics system. Has anyone wired up tweeters? My question is, where to I connect them to, do I splice them in at the front door speakers or are there existing non-used wires are the stereo?

I just installed Boston Pro 60 component speakers yesterday. When you buy component speakers they will come with 3 things.

1. A woofer (speaker that goes in your door to replace the factory speaker)
2. A tweeter to go in your dash.
3. A crossover. (rectangular looking box thingy)

The speaker wires from your amp will actually go into your crossover. From your crossover another set of wires will go to your woofer and another set of wires will go to your tweeter. The crossover determines which signals go to your tweeter and which go to your woofer. You will need to run all these wires yourself.

edit

If you get a pair of tweeters that do not come with an external crossover they will still work but I am not positive how the wiring for those works.

Hey gramps!

Do you have the pinout of the connector that goes to the back of the 6 disc radio? With and without the premium speakers?

Thanks! Only one thing.

I looked at the connector at the back of the radio. It has the option for 22 pins. That thread only has 14 or 20. Do you know why this could be?

I did go back and look, that's all that they show. I'll just make a guess. Just like some of the pins on some computer components, not all are used. How do they line up the the guide tabs?

Next time I pull it apart again I will take a pic.

What im trying to do is to just add tweeters to the dash. I am just replacing the door speakers but i didn't get any component setups. Im wondering if there are empty pins for the front dash speakers. If not I am wondering if it is ok to splice in new wires from the front door speaker wires.

Edited for correctness. I think I finally got it right!

It's hard for me to explain something that I don't fully understand myself. Even though I work with computers until I got in to the radios in the MK's I had never heard of a Can-Bus before. Bare with me on this and if I'm incorrect somebody feel free to jump in here and correct me. What it appears is that the Can-Bus acts like a noise reducer and a router to the Integrated Power Module. Having said that, that is what the 22 pin connector is and it connects to the rear of the head unit. The 20 pin connector is for the Amp.

Here are some pics of the Can-Bus connector and the basic radio wiring diagram.

It looks to be like you could splice into the front speakers.

That dark grey 22pin connector is what I have going directly into the radio. I didn't trace it any further back to see if there is another plug. And just to re-iterate, i have the stock system with the 6 disc changer.

Looks like just to add tweeters into the dash I will need to piggyback off of the wires for the front speakers. Thanks for you help so far!

Of course you're right. I've been getting mixed up between the Can-Bus connector (22 pin) that plugs into the radio and the Amplifier connector (20 pin). Sorry to lead you on a wild goose chase! I'll take my lashes any time.

Do you have a link to them or are they on your hard drive? I'll send you a pm with my email if you'd like to pass them on, maybe we can figure out a way to get them posted or linked for everybody to use. THX!
