BTW... mopar may be selling lights with a crossbar for the compass and patriots soon...

In fact, all of the mopar branded lights are made by hella... the model is FF75. Very good quality.

Installing HID's in stock housings is bad.

Woohoo! I'm also considering a basket. It's an "I want" not and "I need". Goes with my "Compass Safari" theme.

if you get the basket, you have to get the mopar/hella 4 light kit for it...

Has anyone added a basket to their Compass yet? I'd love to see pics.

I'd also wonder which basket they chose, and why.

Mopar offers the 4 light kit for the basket and the wire harness etc to direct plug n play in to the switch on the dash that works my Rally lights - I priced out the whole thing (basket, brakets, lights, harness etc) and it came out to like $6-700 rather crazy if you ask me

a light bar that doesn't use the sport bar racks would be cool (like the Renegade Liberty) because I like the unobstructed view out my sunroof :P

roof rack crossbar question

I am trying to figure out where to buy crossbars for my Compass ... on the Mopar/Jeep website, the price is listed as $225 ... it doesn't say per pair, so does that mean that each crossbar costs $225? So a set of 2 crossbars would run $450? That seems pretty pricey ...

Compass Sport 4X4 CVT "Jeep Green"
used to have '04 Wrangler X, '97 Wrangler 4cyl, 5speed.

i 'think' i'm taking the plunge today and ordering one of the Mopar roof baskets. not sure which one yet.....have to check out the size of them, but apparently i need to get one that states: "attaches to sport bars or cross bars". haven't found ANYTHING that has the same type of roof rail setup as the Compass.

i'll let ya know. i don't think the baskets were stocked in our Chicago PDC so it will take a couple days to get. if it works, i'll post pics.....if not, i'll bury my head in the sand from the shame of it all

If you click on one of csjonsin pic links (post 52) you can do a slide show of his install with a bike rack. More pictures at his host site than here. Worth taking a look.

OK. I bit the bullet and ordered a SportRack that was just bought out by Thule. This is the one that I got but I bought mine threw Amazon and managed to get an extra $10 off. If you go to the Thule link it also has the installation instructions in pdf so that you can see how it mounts. Its 44.75"(l) x 39"(w) x 6.25"(h), has a shipping weight of 36 lbs and is rated to carry 110 lbs. So the Sport Bars will handle it, their rated for 150 lbs. My Sport bars are on the 2nd and 4th slots and this fill fit perfectly between the rear of the sunroof all the way back to just about even with the spoiler. They also make a 22" extension for those who want a bigger rack. I may or may not have to modify the bars on the rack or be creative on how I mount it. I'll have to wait until it arrives to give you more info on that.

I also found these that appear to be fairly economical if anybody is interested..

after looking more closely at the pic of YOUR basket compared to that of the Mopar one, they appear similar, if not THE SAME! not sure who the manufacturer is on the Mopar Accessory Basket, but i DO know that Thule does alot of their 'cargo' accessories. i would like the 22" extension, but i don't think Mopar offers one. if i get to see your rack 'some day', maybe i can see if the SportRack extension will work on mine.

but anyway, great minds DO think alike....now, just need PICS FROM YOU!!!
