Seat belt/ head rest issue

My Mom was being a geneuis one day and had my son in the front seat so she put the seat belt around the head rest. She must have pulled it all the way out when putting it on because i locked up. so now we cant pull it out and we cant get it to go back in because its locked around the head rest. Can we take the head rest right out or how do we fix this? any ideas?

thanks.

first off, with all of the airbags in the front of your car, and the active head restraints, you should count your blessings that your son was not injured due to your mom's negligence.

that said, can you tilt/slide the seat to give some slack to the seatbelt?

I'd never taken mine out and had to try that. I did it from the back seat. I tilted the front seat back, pushed in on the 2 tabs at the base where they slide into the top of the seat and it pulled right out.

It sounds like you may have to remove the seat belt.

1. Before proceeding with the following repair procedure, review all warnings and cautions.
2. Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, remove the seat belt anchor trim (3).
3. Remove the bolt (2) and separate the seat belt anchor (1).
You shouldn’t need the rest of this info but just in case you do:
WARNING: The Seat Weight Sensor is a sensitive, calibrated unit and must be handled carefully. Do not drop or handle roughly. If dropped or damaged, replace with another sensor. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury or death.
WARNING: The front passenger seat must be handled carefully as well. When removing the seat, be careful when setting on floor not to drop. If dropped, the sensor may be inoperative. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury or death.
WARNING: When the seat is on the floor, no one should sit in the front passenger seat. This uneven force may damage the sensing ability of the seat weight sensors. If sat on and damaged, the sensor may be inoperative. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury or death.
4. Remove the bolts (4).
5. Tip the seat back and disconnect the electrical connectors.
6. Remove the seat.
