Batteries are good.
Reading 3.5 volts on the multimeter.

Sorry to bring up the dead, but Bill, were you able to ever figure out this issue?

It rained last week and since then, my key fob has been doing the same thing. I can rule out the fob itself, as it works sporadically! Sometimes it unlocks, sometimes, I have to manually open it and set off the alarm.

I replaced the battery in the fob just two days ago, and it hasn't alleviated the problem at all. Doors all lock just fine from inside, but trying to use the remote gives varying results. It either works, or it just doesn't.

No I have not figured it out.
My remotes will work for a few months and then die for a few months or weeks.
My theory now is that it has something to do with the remote starter that was installed in the car.
When I fiddle with the remote starter buttons or turn it from valet mode to on mode, I can get the Jeep remotes to work.

Resurrection.

I am having the same problem. It rained and my 2005 WK Jeep Grand Cherokee remote keys would not open the vehicle. After entering the vehicle manually I drove it for 15 minutes and then both key sets worked. They both worked again the next morning too. I have to assume it is rain related, maybe a temporary short in the receiving unit end.

I'll see if any codes come through my Chrysler Autoenginuity Scanner later today.
