For the record....I don't like it

We have about 3000 miles on the Compass and I don't think I really care for it. Maybe my feelings will change but at this point it doesn't do anything for me. At first I thought it was nice but a few things about it are starting to bother me. I'm trying to talk the wife into something else but I don't see that happening mostly because I'll lose my pants.

I can see where this is going.

I hope it doesn't though.

if you are looking to trade it in and want to get something else, let me know. we have been known to make miricles happen. i traded a 2011 ram 3500 big horn that a customer paid $55,000 for and owned it for 4 days, and he bought a MORE expensive truck, and we got the financing to work. let me know!

and just fyi, for the first time since they were released, the compass is outselling both the patriot and the caliber. the caliber is going to be discontinued after the 2011 model year, leaving just the two jeeps. people really seem to love the redesign.

Those are very valid criticisms.

I'd really like to know what you do not like about the Compass. I bought mine one month ago and I love it. I even hurry in the morning so my wife can drop me at the subway station... 800 meters from our place
To tell the truth we first considered a Wrangler Unlimited but my wife was not comfortable driving it, so we went to Mercedes and were about to order a GLK when the Jeep dealer called to ask if we would be interested in testdriving the Compass. We did and bought it on the spot.
Of course, the engine may remind you of a combine harvester and you'll never reach 100km/h in 8 sec... So what? The noise is part of the pleasure of this car, but you can feel it will bring you almost anywhere. Been playing in the woods and it was a lot of fun.
Oh, and did it mention the design? I have rarely seen so many people staring at a car...

I'd like to know more about these "few things" that are bothering you...

I'll start. My first disappointment with the new Compass (dealer actually) came yesterday. The dealer wants $150 + tax just to enable the Handsfree system if I do the installation. $210 for labor only if they install. By looking at the instructions, it couldn't take more than a minute or 2 for the enable. I was thinking 30min labor $ max. I was willing to pay a few hundo total for a factory looking system. But now that were looking at nearly $500, a visor mounted unit is looking pretty good. Lame.

they're going by the book hours, but yeah, $150 is a little eccessive. try calling around to get a better quote. they literally just plug in a device to activate it.

Dealers do not have uniform pricing structures either on parts or labor. I worked for one for about 3 weeks and left by mutual agreement. I didn't like charging MSRP Plus and they did. Don't blame Jeep, it's the individual dealer.

I hear ya. Since this was the local dealer where I just purchased my vehicle, I wanted to try to establish a "relationship" with the service and/or parts department (my wife already spent some full MSRP $ on some Father's day stuff for me). I very politely (literally) suggested this could be the transaction that determined how often I would continue to do business there, and that I might be willing to pay MSRP for the kit from the parts dept. for a break on the 2 minute service (as opposed to ordering from the internet for substantially less). Their loss.

I also skeptical about finding a better deal based on results from shopping around for Wrangler parts before trading it in. I couldn't even get MSRP on the particular things I needed.

Some times it's worth the drive to go somewhere else. A phone call can save you $$ and so can the 'net. I can drive 10 miles in one direction and get screwed or 25 in another and get a fair price. We hear these stories all the time but there really are some good dealers out there.
