Recommendations On Sirius Install

I didn't order the factory Sirius unit with my 08 Compass. I already have a Starmate Replay with a lifetime sub. I used it in my home and in my Toyota before I got my Jeep so I thought I'd do the same.

I'd like some ideas on where to put the receiver for a nice clean install. Right now I have the unit and wires into my glove box. It's ok, but would like something a bit better.

Originally I had planned on getting a powered car adapter and plug it in where the cigarette lighter plug is. But I think it will be in the way there.

I am thinking now, maybe to place it in the little shelf above the glove box. I just need a small hole to pass the wires through. I also want to eventually put an iPod connection in so it might work for this as well.

I am hoping to get some other ideas on what I could do. Thanks.

The starmate is small enough that you may be able to utilize that space in the armrest that is supposed to be for the mp3 player.

I had actually thought of putting the Starmate there. The only thing I wasn't sure about is how to run the cable. Ideally I'd try to run it into the center console up to where it flips open.

Is there a way to take that center unit apart to make way for the cables? When the Sirius is factory installed, is a roof antennae used or something different? Thanks.

The factory installed unit uses a hard mounted antenna by the rear lift gate. The dealer installed OEM unit uses a magnetic puck.

Instructions to remove the console are here:

I would pick the power off of the cigarette lighter, then hardwire and mount a 3 port lighter box like this on in the console (you can never have too many power ports):

You can also go with your idea with the dash and mount the 3 port in the glove box. Don't be afraid to drill small holes to run the wires, especially where no one can see them. It's your jeep, so unless it's leased, hook it up.
