Rattle in front steering over bumps

I was wondering if anyone has had any rattle in there compass up front when going over rough parts of road?

My friends does and I am just trying to diagnose where it is coming from, to me it kind of sounds like it is coming from the upper strut bearing or bushing up there.

Any other ideas?

Things to check for tightness:

The 3 nuts on top of each of the strut towers. Pop the hood and they're back in the corners, easy to get at.

Sway bar links connected to the strut housing. (more of a "clunk". I left one loose )

Tie rod ends and rack and pinon (the factory left some of there loose it appears), also causes the wobblies.

The driver side tie rod was lose the tire had about 1/4" of play when lifted off the ground and i was unable to tighten it anymore without totally rounding the nut so we took it to the dealer and they replaced the tie rod end under warrantee, now no more clunk...

Its always fun to go to a dealer / shop and tell them what to look for..

Anybody know how much these bolts should all be torqued? Naturally I am already out of warranty when I get a clunk like squeak sound when I hit bumps. Its probably the tie rod, but I want to make sure everything is torqued right first. Thanks!

Changed the tie rod ends and my clunk in the front is gone. I am still getting a squeak from the rear strut towers. Anyone else have this problem?

Just had the tie rod ends replaced also. No problem getting them done under warranty.
